Does ultrasound break down fat?
Cavitation is one application of ultrasound. In beauty care it is used to help get rid of stubborn fat deposits.
Although in principle every ultrasound device has a cavitation effect, a 3 MHz one has hardly any, and a 1 MHz one only a little. Significant fat-breaking effect is seen with ultrasound frequencies below 640 kHz, which you can find in cosmetic ultrasound devices specialized for this purpose.
It's like cars: the Trabant is hardly suitable for speeding, the Ferrari is quite capable, but the Formula 1 cars are the truly fast ones.
