Treatment Types

The device is multifunctional, providing several electrical treatment modes. Each mode is suitable for different problems.

TENS

TENS, or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, is primarily used for relieving musculoskeletal pain. Additionally, it can alleviate menstrual pain and, to a lesser extent, cancer-related pain.

EMS or NMES

Electrical muscle stimulation is known medically as EMS or NMES. It is used to treat muscle-related issues. Its main applications include easing muscle stiffness, slowing muscle wasting, reducing loss of muscle strength and mass, improving blood circulation, and reducing muscle pain. When applied before orthopedic surgeries, it enhances surgical outcomes. Post-surgery, it is an essential part of rehabilitation.

FES

FES, or functional electrical stimulation, is often considered a separate treatment mode. Essentially, it is muscle stimulation aimed at regaining lost abilities.

After central paralysis, muscles may regain partial movement ability within a few days (in fortunate cases) but become weak and uncoordinated. Muscle stimulation to regain strength and relearn movement is functional stimulation.

Contraindications to Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy treatments (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, ETS, CES, microcurrent, iontophoresis, denervated, selective stimulation, Kotz, interferential, etc.) are safe and free of side effects.

There are very few conditions that contraindicate their use.

Current consensus strictly prohibits any electrotherapy treatment for patients with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Other conditions are not absolute contraindications; the benefits and risks should be weighed by the attending physician.
