Complaints caused by arthrosis and arthritis – morning stiffness in the knee, hip pain when climbing stairs, limited shoulder mobility – regularly make everyday life difficult. Painkillers only provide symptomatic relief.
How can ultrasound help? Therapeutic ultrasound's pain-relieving effect is partly due to heat generation and partly to the direct effect of ultrasound on sensory nerve endings. Through the trophic effect, blood vessels dilate and circulation increases – this facilitates removal of metabolic waste and supplies tissues with nutrients and oxygen. All this can contribute to faster resolution of inflammatory processes.

How can ultrasound help? As ultrasound passes through soft tissues it generates heat. This thermal effect increases cellular metabolism and causes vasodilation. How can ultrasound help? Low-intensity (0.2–0.3 W/cm²) pulsed ultrasound stimulates bone-forming cells (osteoblasts) through mechanical microstimulation. Clinical studies indicate this can accelerate bony union, especially in fresh fractures and pseudoarthrosis.

Oils, fat-soluble vitamins, liposomal formulations and water-soluble agents are all better absorbed during ultrasound application.

The device has a CE IIa medical device certification. The manufacturer (DOMINO s.r.l.) primarily recommends it for physicians, physiotherapists and trained professionals in clinical, rehabilitation and physiotherapy settings. It is also suitable for discerning home users who seek a professional-level device – but consulting the treating physician about the appropriate treatment protocol is always recommended.
Absolute contraindications: malignant tumor in the treated area, active thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, hematoma, acute infection or sepsis, presence of a pacemaker. Areas to avoid: eyes and surrounding area, directly over the heart, over glands, during pregnancy over the abdomen and pelvic area. Time restriction: do not treat areas that received radiotherapy for 6 months. Relative contraindication: severe osteoporosis – consult your physician. When in doubt always seek your treating physician's opinion!
The MediSound 3000 operates with dual frequency (1 MHz and 3 MHz). 1 MHz is suitable for deeper tissues while 3 MHz is for superficial cosmetic applications. In addition, the professional 3 W/cm² output and the 49 pre-programmed treatments distinguish it from simpler devices. The waterproof transducer (IP67) is another plus.
Ultrasound frequency determines penetration depth. 1 MHz (lower frequency) penetrates deeper – ideal for deeper muscles and large joints (lower back, hip, shoulder, knee). 3 MHz (higher frequency) reaches more superficial tissues – optimal for cosmetic applications and smaller, superficial areas (face, neck, décolleté, hands).
Treatment frequency depends on the treated condition and medical advice. General guidance: one treatment per day, up to 10 minutes per palm-sized area. Treatment cycles typically last 2–4 weeks. The device is designed for continuous operation, but the treated area needs rest. Always follow your treating physician's instructions for specific protocols.
The transducer has IP67 protection, so it can be submerged. If touching the treated area is painful, immerse the body part (e.g. hand, foot) in water at approx. 37°C, then direct the transducer at the area from 1–2 cm distance. Water transmits the ultrasound. Important: bubbles may form in tap water and reflect the waves – remove them regularly from the skin surface and the head.
Therapeutic ultrasound works gradually. Clinical experience and research indicate that favorable changes are usually felt after 2–4 weeks of regular use. Results vary by individual and depend on the nature of the treated condition, treatment regularity and other factors. Therapeutic ultrasound is an adjunct to medical treatment and does not replace it.
How to use it? It's that simple:
Turn on and select a program
Press the OK button, then use the P+/P- buttons to select the area or complaint to treat. Among the 49 pre-set programs you'll surely find a suitable one – no need to struggle with parameters.
Apply ultrasound gel
Apply ultrasound gel generously to the treated area. This ensures proper contact and transmission of the ultrasound waves. Without gel the treatment is ineffective! The device has contact detection and will indicate if contact is insufficient.
Move the transducer in circular motions
Place the transducer on the gel and move slowly in circular motions (approx. 4 cm/second). Never hold the head in one place! Continuous movement ensures even energy distribution and prevents overheating.
Observe time and intensity
Treat an area for a maximum of 10 minutes. Start at low intensity and gradually increase. If you feel a pleasant warmth – that's fine. If you experience a burning sensation, stop the treatment immediately.

Ultrasound gel: The included 250 ml gel is enough for the first weeks, but for regular use it's worth stocking up on more tubes. Ultrasound gel is essential – without it the treatment is ineffective!
Optional battery (Ref. G1120): Ni-MH 12V 4Ah battery pack, if you want to use the device without mains connection. Useful for travel or when there's no socket nearby.
16 mm transducer (Ref. G6737): For smaller surfaces and more precise treatment – e.g. for hands, fingers or small facial areas.

When NOT to use the device?
- Malignant tumor in or near the treated area
- Hematoma – ultrasound may promote embolism formation
- Thrombophlebitis, active thrombosis
- Acute infection, sepsis in the treated area – the infection may spread
- Area treated with radiotherapy – do not treat for 6 months
- Children with growing bones – avoid over the epiphysis
- Eye area and immediate vicinity
- During pregnancy over the abdomen and pelvic area
- Directly near the heart and large vessels, over glands
- Implanted pacemaker or other electrical implant
- Severe osteoporosis (relative contraindication – consult your physician)
