Neurological diseases generally cause lasting damage to neural connections. Nerve regeneration is very slow, but can be stimulated and accelerated with electrotherapy.
Filter
The majority of neurological diseases and conditions cannot be reversed in 1–2 days. Complete recovery is usually a longer, even several-month process! During this time, you cannot remain in the hospital the entire period.
When you’re discharged from the hospital after the acute phase of a stroke or peripheral paralysis, it doesn’t mean you’ve healed; it means you’ve gotten past the worst, and you have to complete the rest at home. Eliminating stroke-induced paralysis and relearning movement can take years, and even longer for a peripheral nerve injury!
If you don’t continue the treatments—physical therapy, electrotherapy, etc.—that you received in the hospital, your recovery will stall. If you want to recover fully, you need to keep up the exercises and treatments at home.
