Do recurring joint, tendon or muscle pains bother you? Chronic back, neck, lumbar or menstrual pain? Looking for a simple, affordable, portable TENS device for home use?

The Dolito is a German-quality, compact (150 g, 11.7 × 6.6 × 3.3 cm) TENS device that delivers exactly that: 6 preprogrammed protocols, 2 independent channels, and a belt clip for wearing. It focuses purely on pain relief — it doesn’t try to be everything at once. In terms of price-performance, it is one of the most cost-effective entry-level TENS units on the market.

Why choose the Dolito?

pain relief

Focused purely on pain relief

Not an EMS training device, not a beauty device — specifically a TENS pain-relief neurostimulator. Optimized for joint, tendon, muscle and nerve pain, and menstrual complaints. If you only want pain relief, you won’t pay for unnecessary features.

6 programs

6 programs

Modulated, continuous (traditional), Burst, HAN (Dense-Disperse), muscle Work/Rest and a fully customizable (PC06) program. From acute pain to chronic complaints there’s a protocol — plus one muscle-activating program for mild strengthening.

portable

Compact and portable

Weighing 150 g, pocket-sized and attachable to your belt. Runs on a 9V battery (approx. 12 hours runtime on one battery) — no charging or mains adapter needed. Great for travel, work or the office. Discreet and unobtrusive.

german quality

German MTR+ quality

Manufactured by MTR+ Vertriebs GmbH (Germany) under ISO 13485:2021 quality management. CE 0123 Class IIa medical device. Expected service life of 10 years — durable, reliable and cost-effective in the long run.

Dr. Zátrok Zsolt
doctor Our medical expert says

“I recommend the Dolito to those looking for a simple, affordable home TENS device for pain relief who do not want a complex electrotherapy unit. The 6 programs cover the most important TENS protocols: continuous and modulated TENS work on classic gate-control pain relief, Burst and HAN (Dense-Disperse) can activate the endorphin system — the latter is particularly useful for chronic and muscle-origin complaints. Important: Dolito is ONLY TENS — it does not include EMS, microcurrent, or iontophoresis. If you want to build muscle mass or seek sports recovery, consider the Elite SII or other Globus models. For chronic low back pain, joint complaints, neuropathic or menstrual pain and if you seek a drug-free adjunct, Dolito is a very favorable device.”

Is Dolito right for my complaint?

Arthritis, degenerative joint problems (osteoarthritis) and tendon inflammations (tendinitis) are associated with chronic pain that TENS can relieve without medication. Dolito’s Modulated (Program 01) or HAN (Program 04) modes are optimized for chronic complaints — 30-minute sessions once or twice daily are typical. Pain relief can begin during treatment and often persists after stimulation ends.

Neck and lumbar complaints are common with sedentary work. Dolito’s Continuous (Program 02 – 110 Hz, 30 minutes) delivers quick relief for acute, sudden pain, while the Modulated (Program 01) helps with chronic, recurring problems. Use it during or after work, even while sitting on the couch — the belt clip lets you wear it and continue reading or watching TV.

Primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps) in young and middle-aged women can be severe and often prompts a desire for drug-free relief. Dolito’s Continuous or Modulated programs with electrodes applied to the lower abdomen can ease cramps. The 9V battery operation and compact size are advantages: pocketable and discreet enough for workplace use. IMPORTANT: DO NOT use during pregnancy.

For delayed onset muscle soreness, cramps or post-exercise pain, Dolito’s Burst (Program 03) can activate the endorphin system to reduce pain. The Work/Rest (Program 05) mode can be used for gentle muscle strengthening — 10 seconds on + 20 seconds off rhythm. This does not replace Globus EMS devices for strength training but is suitable for gentle reactivation of recovering muscles.

Neuralgias, sciatica, radicular symptoms and in some cases phantom pain can respond to TENS. Dolito’s Modulated and HAN programs are particularly suitable for relieving these chronic neuropathic pains. IMPORTANT: the cause of nerve pain should always be clarified by a medical professional — do not self-treat if the complaint is new or worsening.

Many patients inquire about home devices after receiving TENS treatment from a GP or physiotherapist and do not want to invest heavily. Dolito’s entry-level price-performance is aimed at this customer group: German build quality, 10-year lifespan, classic 6 programs and a simple interface. It doesn’t try to be everything — which is its advantage: if you only need TENS pain relief, you won’t pay for extras.

After removal of a cast following a fracture, or after minor surgeries (e.g., meniscus procedures, tendon reconstructions), TENS can provide a drug-free option for pain relief. Dolito’s Continuous program is optimized for acute, intense complaints, while Modulated suits prolonged postoperative phases. IMPORTANT: start TENS after approval from your treating physician or physiotherapist — never place electrodes over a fresh scar! Wait at least 5–7 days after surgery.

Your physiotherapist or physician can set up a custom protocol for you (PC06 program), which can be saved and recalled at any time.

How to use it step by step

1

Insert the 9V battery

The device runs on a 9V (6LR61 or 6AM6) battery — one battery provides about 12 hours of runtime at a 20 mA load, which means several weeks of use with daily 30-minute sessions. NO battery charging, no mains adapter — just replace the battery and go.

2

Select the program

Choose from 6 programs on the large LCD: Modulated (chronic pain), Continuous (acute), Burst (endorphin), HAN (Dense-Disperse chronic), Work/Rest (muscle activation), or PC06 (customizable). The display shows current frequency, pulse width and remaining time.

3

Apply the four 40×40 mm electrodes

The package contains four 40×40 mm adhesive TENS electrodes — typically two per channel, placed around the painful area or along the nerve path. Skin should be clean and dry — creams, oils or sweat can weaken adhesion.

4

Start + intensity setting (0–80 mA)

The device automatically detects if an electrode falls off or a cable is damaged and will stop the session. Intensity is adjustable per channel from 0–80 mA — increase gradually until you feel a pleasant tingling. It should NOT be painful. After one minute the increase function automatically locks to prevent accidental escalation.

5

Wear it with the belt clip or use it while seated

The 150 g weight and belt clip allow you to wear it during work, chores or walking — you don’t need to sit still. The automatic timer stops at the set time (usually 20–30 minutes). With the PC06 custom program you can run sessions up to 9 hours 59 minutes (e.g., overnight chronic treatment — with physician consultation).

6

60-day memory + data sharing with clinician

The device logs the date, duration and type of each treatment with a real-time clock. Within 60 days your doctor or physiotherapist can retrieve this data to check treatment regularity and optimize protocols. This is a rare feature at this price point.

The 6 programs in detail

Dolito offers 6 preprogrammed treatment modes plus one fully customizable program. Each program is optimized for different types of pain.

Frequency: 70–110 Hz variable. Pulse width: 200–100 µs variable. Duration: 30 minutes.

Because parameters continuously change, the nervous system does NOT adapt to the electrical stimulus — this is especially advantageous for long-term chronic pain. Treatment remains effective over time. Typical use: chronic low back or neck pain, arthritis, neuralgia.

Frequency: 110 Hz constant. Pulse width: 175 µs. Duration: 30 minutes.

Classic TENS treatment. High-frequency continuous stimulation blocks pain signal transmission to the brain according to Gate-Control theory. Typical use: sudden muscle spasm, acute low back pain, soreness, postoperative pain. Provides quick relief during treatment.

Frequency: 80 Hz. Pulse width: 150 µs. Duration: 30 minutes. Rhythm: groups of 9 pulses emitted twice per second.

Burst (grouped) stimulation can specifically enhance endorphin release — your body’s own morphine-like pain-relieving substances. Typical use: chronic pain when classic TENS is insufficient. Effect builds more slowly but lasts longer.

Frequency: alternating 100/2 Hz (Dense-Disperse). Pulse width: 200/350 µs. Duration: 30 minutes. Rhythm: alternating high and low frequency in 3–3 second cycles.

A sophisticated method developed by Professor Han that can activate different types of endogenous opioids — both enkephalin and dynorphin systems. Typical use: difficult-to-treat chronic pain when classic TENS and Burst haven’t provided expected relief. One of the more advanced endorphin-releasing TENS modes.

Frequency: 50 Hz. Pulse width: 300 µs. Duration: 20 minutes. Rhythm: 10 seconds active + 20 seconds rest cycles.

Although positioned as a pure TENS device, this program can provide mild muscle strengthening. Typical use: gentle reactivation of long-inactive muscles, regeneration, strengthening weak but intact muscle tissue. IMPORTANT: Dolito’s muscle-strengthening capability is NOT comparable to dedicated Globus EMS devices — consider it complementary, not primary.

The PC06 program allows individual adjustment of all parameters: treatment time 1–599 minutes, frequency 1–150 Hz, pulse width 50–350 µs, modulation type freely selectable. This is intended for protocols defined by a treating physician or physiotherapist. With the 60-day memory + STIM LOCK, the specialist can set and lock a bespoke protocol for you.

Demo and usage video

The video below demonstrates the Dolito device and its general use.

Dolito device demo

An overview of the Dolito TENS unit, the 6 programs, electrode placement and basic usage. Practical demonstration of German MTR+ quality.

What’s in the package?

The Dolito base package — all accessories needed to start using it immediately.

  • 1 pc Dolito TENS device (2-channel)
  • 2 pcs stimulation cables (1 per channel)
  • 4 pcs 40×40 mm adhesive TENS electrodes
  • 1 pc 9V battery (6LR61/6AM6)
  • 1 pc Hungarian user manual
  • Belt clip for portable use (on the back of the device)

Adhesive electrodes: their adhesion progressively decreases after 25–30 uses. Replacement 40×40 mm sets are available separately. After use, return them to the protective backing. Tips: apply on clean, hair-free skin and remove by lifting gently at a corner rather than tearing.

9V battery: approx. 12 hours runtime at 20 mA. If unused for long periods, remove the battery to prevent leakage. Use only original or quality 6LR61/6AM6 alkaline batteries.

Cleaning the device: wipe the exterior with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use alcohol to clean electrodes — it damages the adhesive layer.

Dolito can be supplemented with additional accessories:

  • Replacement electrode sets: 40×40 mm, replace after ~25–30 uses.
  • Different electrode sizes: in some cases a larger (50×50 mm) electrode may be more comfortable (e.g., treating large lumbar areas).
  • Electrode gel: to improve adhesion for sensitive skin or long sessions (generally not needed for adhesive electrodes).

Frequently asked questions

No. A pacemaker, implanted defibrillator (ICD) or any electronic implant is an absolute contraindication. TENS impulses can interfere with the implant’s function and may be life-threatening. If you have such a device, do not use the unit under any circumstances — not even on your limbs.

During pregnancy — especially in the first trimester — the use of TENS devices is NOT recommended. Treatment of the lower abdomen, abdomen and lumbar region is prohibited throughout pregnancy. There are obstetric TENS protocols used by specialists during labor at some clinics, but these should be applied by professionals. If unsure, consult your obstetrician or midwife.

Key differences:

  • Dolito (MTR+, Germany): PURE TENS device. 6 programs. 2 channels. 9V battery. Pain relief only (and mild muscle strengthening with Program 5). Entry-level price.
  • Elite SII (Globus, Italy): Multifunctional (TENS + EMS/NMES). 100 programs. 2 channels. Rechargeable. For sport, shaping and pain relief.
  • Genesy SII (Globus, Italy): Multifunctional with pelvic-focus. Also suitable for probe-based incontinence treatment. Rechargeable.

If you’re looking purely for simple, affordable pain relief → Dolito. If sports EMS, body shaping or probe incontinence treatment are important → Elite SII or Genesy SII.

Simply put:

  • Continuous (Program 02): the classic “fast-acting” TENS. Use for acute pain — e.g., sudden low back pain or muscle spasm. Effect is felt during treatment.
  • Modulated (Program 01): continuously changing parameters prevent habituation. Use for chronic pain — e.g., recurrent neck or joint pain.
  • Burst (Program 03): can activate the endorphin system — your body’s own analgesics. Builds effect more slowly but is more lasting. For chronic pain and long-term use.
  • HAN (Program 04): the most sophisticated endorphin-activating mode, alternating high/low frequency. For difficult chronic pain when classic TENS is insufficient.

General suggestion: start with Continuous (quick relief), and if your complaint is chronic switch to Modulated → Burst → HAN to see which works best for you.

TENS is drug-free and generally well tolerated. Typical protocols:

  • Acute pain: 15–30 minutes, 2–3 times daily as needed.
  • Chronic pain: 30–45 minutes, 1–2 times daily for long-term use.
  • Muscle strengthening (Work/Rest): 20–30 minutes, once daily.
  • Menstrual pain: during cramping phases, as needed.

Never use the device while driving or operating heavy machinery. If new or worsening symptoms appear, consult your treating physician — TENS does not replace diagnostic evaluation.

For lumbar pain a typical placement is four 40×40 mm electrodes around the painful area. Channel 1: two electrodes on either side of the spine at mid-lumbar level (approx. L3–L4). Channel 2: two electrodes placed above and below the painful zone. Do not place electrodes directly over the spine. Detailed placement diagrams are in the Hungarian user manual. If uncertain, ask a physiotherapist or physical therapist for guidance.

A quality 9V battery (6LR61/6AM6) provides about 12 hours runtime at 20 mA. With daily 30-minute use that equals roughly 3–4 weeks of intensive treatment. If used at lower intensities (e.g., 10–15 mA) it can last 6 weeks or more. Tips: use quality alkaline batteries, avoid storing in freezing temperatures, and remove the battery if storing for a long time.

information Important information

Dolito is a CE-certified, Class IIa medical device (CE 0123, according to MDD 93/42/EEC), intended for home use. However, its use does not replace medical diagnosis, a specialist physiotherapist’s individualized protocol or prescribed medications. The device is an adjunct to existing therapy.

For new or worsening symptoms (e.g., persistent pain, numbness, weakness) always consult your physician — TENS should not be used to mask symptoms that may indicate a more serious condition. For chronic pain, identify the underlying cause before regular TENS treatment.

Use only original accessories, replace electrodes regularly (after 25–30 uses) and watch for skin reactions if you have nickel allergy. Keep the device out of reach of children.

The information on this page is for general guidance and does not replace individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult your treating physician about your specific complaints.
