Genesy 3000: multifunctional electrotherapy device with TENS | EMS | MENS | Denervated | MCR | FES | Kotz | Interferential (IF) | Iontophoresis programs

The device's over 400 programs can support the treatment, improvement, healing, or prevention of countless health issues.

  • Disease treatment: pain relief, muscle condition improvement, anti-inflammatory effect, circulation improvement, edema reduction, deep delivery of active substances, post-surgical and post-illness rehabilitation
  • Treatment of muscles affected by peripheral paralysis (denervated programs, selective stimulation)
  • Programs aiding sports preparation and muscle regeneration, injury treatment and prevention
  • Body shaping and fitness programs. Supports weight loss and postpartum body recovery.
  • Beauty care through improvement of facial muscle condition.

The ideal device for physiotherapists and patients for pain relief and rehabilitation treatments.

Types of treatments

The device is multifunctional, offering several types of electrical treatments. Each treatment modality addresses different problems.

TENS

TENS, or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, is primarily suitable for relieving musculoskeletal pain. It can also be used to reduce menstrual pain and to a lesser extent cancer-related pain.

EMS or NMES

Electrical muscle stimulation, abbreviated EMS or NMES in medical practice, is used to treat muscle-related issues. Main applications include reducing muscle stiffness, slowing muscle atrophy and loss of muscle strength and mass, improving blood circulation, and reducing muscle pain. When applied before musculoskeletal surgery, it improves surgical outcomes. It is an almost indispensable complement in post-surgery rehabilitation.

FES

FES, or functional electrical stimulation, is often described as a standalone treatment mode. It is a type of muscle stimulation carried out to regain some lost function.

After central paralysis, muscles may partially recover their movement ability (in fortunate cases) but become clumsy and weak. Functional stimulation is muscle stimulation performed for strength recovery and re-learning movement.

MENS or MCR

Microcurrent is an extremely mild current (for example, TENS or muscle stimulation currents are about a thousand times greater).

Microcurrent can be used for pain relief (termed MENS, microcurrent nerve stimulation) or healing (MCR).

Microcurrent accelerates healing of inflammatory conditions (including tendonitis, arthritis, arthrosis, etc.). It reduces edema, useful in acute treatment of herniated discs, lumbago, sciatica, and other radicular symptoms. It speeds up healing of injuries, wounds, muscle tears, etc.

Microcurrent stimulates collagen production, aiding the healing of wounds and scars—beneficial for beauty care by restoring skin elasticity and treating wrinkles.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is useful in treating joint inflammation and sports injuries. It allows delivery of a (water-soluble, electrically charged) medication directly through the skin to the affected area, avoiding the digestive system. For example, in ankle injury, orally administered drugs spread throughout the body, with only minimal amounts reaching the ankle. Ideally, more should reach the ankle and less elsewhere. Iontophoresis helps achieve this.

Denervated (selective stimulation)

Used to stimulate muscles affected by peripheral paralysis (denervated, having lost their motor nerve). Triangle, trapezoid, and square waveforms can be selected based on the degree of nerve damage: severe damage - triangle; moderate damage - trapezoid; mild - square.

Muscles that have lost their motor nerves cannot be stimulated via those nerves. Denervated impulses directly activate muscle fibers, so selective stimulation impulses are considerably longer than EMS impulses used for healthy muscles. EMS impulses are microsecond in duration; denervated impulses are millisecond.

Kotz/Russian

Kotz stimulation (or Russian stimulation) is an electrical muscle stimulation technique originally developed by Soviet doctor M. Kotz. Mainly used in sports medicine and rehabilitation, its primary goals are muscle development, strengthening, and regeneration. Electrical impulses induce artificial muscle contractions, which help increase muscle strength and accelerate recovery.

Interferential (IF)

Interferential therapy (IF therapy) is mainly used for pain relief, anti-inflammation, muscle rehabilitation, and circulation improvement. It applies two different medium-frequency currents that intersect within tissues, creating a lower-frequency therapeutic current and its effect. This method is effective in reaching deeper tissues while minimizing skin irritation.

Contraindications for electrotherapy treatment

Electrotherapy treatments (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, ETS, CES, microcurrent, iontophoresis, denervated, selective stimulation, Kotz, interferential, etc.) are safe and free from side effects.

Only a few conditions are contraindicated.

Current consensus prohibits any electrotherapy treatment for patients with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Other conditions are not excluding factors; advantages and disadvantages should be considered by the attending physician.

If uncertain about suitability, read Dr. Zsolt Zátrok's article on the Élethosszig Egészségesen blog. Click here.

There's a common belief that electrotherapy devices cannot be used with metal implants, prostheses, bone plates, or screws. This is outdated. Read Dr. Zsolt Zátrok's article about the relation between implants and electrical treatment. Click here.
