Details

The DermaDry Total Hyperhidrosis Treatment Device provides a medication- and needle-free solution for those suffering from abnormal sweating of the palms, soles, or underarms.

The DermaDry device is specifically designed for home use in hyperhidrosis treatment, making it very easy to use and learn within minutes. One treatment lasts 15-20 minutes. A full course consists of 12-14 treatments, which provide dry skin for 6-8 weeks. Sweating gradually returns, necessitating new treatment courses.

Recommended for individuals over 13 years old. Younger children have thinner, more sensitive skin and tolerate treatment discomfort less well.

The device uses the latest pulsed technology to ensure the best results. Its reliability is confirmed by endorsement as one of the most effective tools by the International Hyperhidrosis Society, a group of physicians specializing in hyperhidrosis treatment. Clinically proven results! Studies show treatment success rates between 93% and 100%.

  • Tap water acts evenly. It eliminates abnormal sweating across the full treated area of the palms, soles, and underarms, not just parts of them.
  • A certain current strength is necessary to stop sweating. If you don't feel the electrical treatment, it means you've set the current too low and can expect minimal effect.
  • Treatment success partially depends on the applied current strength. Higher currents are more effective but may be uncomfortable.
  • The tolerable current varies for each person. Adjust according to your skin's sensitivity. Set the highest current you can tolerate painlessly!
  • Your palms, soles, and underarms require different currents. Typically, palms and soles tolerate higher currents than underarms.
  • Treatment frequency depends on hyperhidrosis severity. Mild cases can be treated every other day, while severe cases may require up to two treatments daily.
  • Treatments should be applied in courses: treat intensively for 10-14 days, then switch to maintenance with 1-2 weekly treatments for 2-3 months to sustain results.
  • If excessive sweating restarts, begin a new intensive course.
  • After several months, rely on your experience and adjust treatments based on sweating reduction or return.
  • Tap water iontophoresis does not cure hyperhidrosis; it is a symptomatic treatment that suppresses symptoms for weeks without requiring any chemical intake or application.

Contraindications

  • Presence of pacemaker
  • Presence of ICD (implantable defibrillator)
  • Heart problems (e.g., arrhythmia)
  • History of epileptic seizures
  • Pregnancy or possibility of pregnancy
  • Presence of metal intrauterine device (IUD)
  • Metal implants in or near treatment area
  • Extensive skin damage or loss of epidermis (too large to cover with petroleum jelly)
  • Skin infection (erysipelas)
  • Polyneuropathy in the treated region
  • Malignant tumors in treatment area
  • Acute phlebitis and thrombosis

Possible Side Effects

Iontophoresis side effects are almost exclusively mild and temporary, resolving shortly after stopping treatment.

  • Irritation, redness (erythema), burning sensation, small blisters (vesiculation), and itching. If these occur, use lower intensity and wait for symptoms to disappear before next treatment.
  • "Prickling" sensations. You might feel mild pain at treatment start or after polarity reversal. Reducing intensity alleviates this sensation (though it may reduce effectiveness somewhat).
  • Increased sweating. After initial treatments, sweating may seem to increase temporarily. Don't worry; normal state returns after a few sessions with decreased sweating.
  • Dry skin. Iontophoresis can dry the skin. Use moisturizing cream after treatments.

What water to use?

Simple tap water is required for treatment! Water quality may differ by location. Very soft water can impair iontophoresis effectiveness as it lacks sufficient minerals or electrolytes (tiny electrical particles). Do NOT use softened water!

If the effect of tap water treatment is mild, try the following:

  • Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water for each treatment.
  • Some clinicians report stronger effects with salty water. Add a quarter teaspoon (1 gram) of table salt to the water and continue treatment this way.

Additional Information

Each treatment profile (palms, soles, underarms) has different maximum current limits. For feet: 25 mA, hands: 15 mA, underarms: 8 mA.
Maximum treatment voltage is also profile-limited: feet 55 V, hands 48 V, underarms 30 V.
The device automatically stops increasing current (mA) when reaching profile maximum voltage, ensuring safety. This may mean treatment doesn't start with high skin resistance like dry or thick palms. Reduce skin resistance before treatment as described below.

High Skin Resistance

High skin resistance (thick, dry, hard skin) affects treatment.
For example, if you set 25 mA for foot treatment but the device only reaches 15-20 mA during treatment while voltage maxes at 55 V, the device stops raising current. This safety feature prevents skin damage from excessive current.

This indicates high skin resistance.
Skin resistance means how well the skin conducts electricity; the device calculates and delivers voltage accordingly.

Reducing Skin Resistance

  • Soak your feet in lukewarm water for 10 minutes before treatment, then start treatment immediately.
  • Measure exactly 250 ml of water in each treatment tray.
  • Water in trays should be warm (body temperature, 36-38 °C).

Treating Extensive Hyperhidrosis

Abnormal sweating most commonly affects palms, soles, and underarms. DermaDry targets these areas. The palm is not the whole hand! The sole is not the whole foot! The device is not suitable for treating backs of hands, tops of feet, chest, neck, back, or scalp sweating.

Iontophoresis is not suitable for treating large body areas like back, neck, abdomen, or thighs.

DermaDry is very effective but only for palms, soles, and underarms.
