“The Personal Laser L200 stands out in the entry-level medical laser category. A 660 nm wavelength together with 200 mW power is an ideal combination for treating superficial tissues – skin, scars, superficial joints. Manufactured in Denmark, CE IIa medical certification, a true diode laser. Many people also use it successfully as an adjunct for tinnitus. If you want a compact, portable solution for complaints close to the skin surface, this device is an excellent choice.”

What can you use it for?

Sound familiar? A small cut, abrasion or surgical wound – and weeks later it still hasn’t closed properly. This is especially frustrating with diabetes, circulation problems or simply slow healing.

The 660 nm red laser light is absorbed in the upper layers of the skin, where it may support cellular metabolic processes. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses show that LLLT treatment can statistically significantly aid wound healing in skin wounds (Khoja et al., 2024 – PubMed).

Tip: Hold the laser about 1 cm from the wound, treat each area for 30–60 seconds, once daily. For scars, a longer course (2–4 weeks) is recommended.

Sound familiar? Small joint inflammation – in the finger, ankle or wrist – is especially annoying because every movement reminds you of it. Anti-inflammatory creams only help temporarily, and you may not want to take pills long-term.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) may reduce inflammatory processes by increasing mitochondrial activity. The 660 nm wavelength penetrates about 1–2 cm, which is suitable for reaching superficial structures of small joints, fingers, wrists and ankles (Glass, 2021 – PubMed).

Tip: Treat the inflamed joint 1–2 times daily for 1–2 minutes. Pain relief is typically expected after 1–2 weeks of regular use.

Sound familiar? You switch off the light and it’s quiet – but there is noise in your head. Persistent tinnitus can impair sleep, concentration and quality of life.

Transmeatal application of soft laser is one of the most studied adjunctive treatments for tinnitus. Clinical trials used 660 nm lasers at 100–200 mW power in the ear canal. Results are mixed – some studies show improvement, others find no significant difference from placebo (Chen et al., 2020 – PubMed). The L200 settings match those used in the research.

Tip: Hold the laser at the entrance of the ear canal; a daily 10–15 minute treatment is recommended. Wear protective goggles during use. Several weeks of treatment are needed to evaluate any effect.

Sound familiar? A surgical scar is thickening instead of fading. Cold sore blisters keep returning at the worst times. An ingrown toenail keeps getting inflamed.

The 660 nm red laser is an optimal wavelength for skin tissues. Research suggests it may support collagen production, which can contribute to scar fading and improved elasticity. For herpes, early laser treatment in the blister stage is reported to help speed resolution.

Tip: Treat scars for 1 minute daily for 4–6 weeks. For cold sores, apply the laser twice daily for 30–60 seconds during the blister stage.

Sound familiar? Your pet was injured, had surgery, or has chronic skin problems – and healing is slower than you’d like.

Soft laser therapy is widely used in veterinary medicine. The 660 nm wavelength is suitable for superficial tissues in small animals – wounds, sutures, skin inflammations. Consult your veterinarian for a treatment protocol.

Tip: Trim hair from the treated area. Hold the laser 1 cm from the skin and treat each area for 30–60 seconds daily. Make sure the animal does not look into the laser beam!

Frequently asked questions

Yes, the device has CE IIa medical device certification. Protective goggles are included and must be worn during every treatment. Never point the laser directly at the eye or at reflective surfaces. Follow the treatment times and contraindications in the user manual.

The L200 operates at 660 nm (red) with 200 mW power – this is ideal for superficial treatments (wounds, scars, skin, tinnitus). The L400 uses an 808 nm (infrared) wavelength at 400 mW – it penetrates deeper tissues (joints, tendons, muscles). If you need a solution for issues close to the skin surface, the L200 is the better choice. For deeper pain (knee, back, shoulder), the L400 is more effective.

A treatment typically takes 1–5 minutes per area. The device delivers about 12 Joule per minute. Most superficial treatments recommend 4–12 Joule, which is about 30–60 seconds. For tinnitus, a 10–15 minute session is recommended. One battery charge gives roughly 3 hours of use.

A real Class 3B diode laser, not an LED. A diode laser is coherent and emits a single wavelength (660 nm), delivering energy more targeted and deeper than scattered LED light. This is an important distinction from a medical perspective. More: LED lamp or diode laser – what is the difference?

For acute complaints (fresh injuries, cold sores) use 1–2 times daily. For chronic problems (scars, tinnitus) once daily is sufficient. Improvement is usually noticed after 1–2 weeks of regular use. Detailed protocols are in the soft laser therapy guide.

How to use it? It’s that simple:

1

Put on the protective goggles

Always wear the protective goggles included in the package during every treatment. A Class 3B laser can cause eye injury from direct or reflected beams.

2

Switch on the laser

Press the power button. The device is ready immediately – no warm-up time, no complicated settings.

3

Hold it to the treatment area

Keep the laser about 0.5–1 cm from the skin surface. Move slowly or hold on one spot for 30–60 seconds. The device delivers about 12 Joule per minute.

4

Repeat regularly

Regular daily treatment is key. Most complaints require a 1–4 week course, once or twice daily. Specific protocols are in the user manual and the soft laser therapy guide.

What’s in the package?

  • 1 x Personal Laser L200 device (aluminium housing)
  • 1 x lithium-ion battery (3.7 V)
  • 1 x battery charger + USB cable + USB mains adapter
  • 1 x protective goggles (mandatory!)
  • Aluminium carry case
  • User manual

The Personal Laser L200 is a Class 3B medical laser. This means direct or reflected beams can injure the eye. Always wear the protective goggles included in the package – even when you treat your legs or hands.

The premium aluminium carry case stores the device, charger and goggles. Ideal for travel – the laser stays protected from damage.

Warning When NOT to use the device?

  • Do not use over malignant tumours (cancerous areas)
  • Do not use on the abdomen or uterus during pregnancy
  • Do not apply if you have photosensitivity
  • Never aim at the eye or directly at the eyeball – always wear protective goggles!
  • Consult a physician if you have epilepsy
  • Do not use on actively bleeding areas

Warning Important information

The device may be used as an adjunct treatment alongside physician-prescribed therapy. It does not replace medical examination or treatment. Consult your treating physician if you have complaints!
