Details

The Power Q-8120 is a high-competence compression therapy unit with 24 airchambers. It can simultaneously treat 1 pair of 24 airchamber pants or 2 sets of 12 airchamber arm, leg, and waist cuffs. It’s also known as a pressure therapy device or wave massage device. These three terms refer to the same device, with no differences.

The Power Q-8120 is primarily designed for clinical and office use but also suitable for home use.

This medical device complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, or an "air pump." Cuffs connected to the device consist of multiple airchambers, which the machine inflates and deflates sequentially. This creates a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels, guiding excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (interstitial fluid), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers multiple modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to individual needs.

Conditions and Diseases Treated

The Power Q-8120 is effective for various conditions, including:

  • Lymphedema: A lymphatic system disorder causing fluid buildup and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, alleviating leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Common after breast removal surgery due to lymph flow disruption. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Assists in managing swelling and improving joint mobility.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce postoperative bruising by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT): Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in at-risk patients.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff Options

Cuff Selection

The Power Q-8120 supports two treatment cuffs: either two 12-chamber cuffs or one 24-chamber pant cuff.

Choosing the cuff

Arm cuff

Arm lymphedema usually affects one side, so one cuff may suffice. Athletes aiming to enhance muscle recovery can use two arm cuffs for simultaneous treatment. The arm cuff includes a strap that fastens under the opposite underarm.

Leg cuff

Ideal for leg lymphedema, varicose vein disease, or post-thrombosis conditions, and for muscle recovery after sports. If the size is small, zipper extensions are available.

Waist cuff

Use this when both the legs and waist need treatment. It fastens around the waist. Suitable for cellulite treatment, though the pant cuff is more effective.

Pant cuff

This cuff treats almost the entire body from legs to underarms. Optimal for post-training muscle recovery and beauty treatments - especially cellulite and cavitation.

Waist-hip circumference can be up to 160 cm. Not recommended for patients with heart disease or high blood pressure due to the efficiency of large fluid movements; use separate leg, arm, or waist cuffs instead.

Application

General Guidelines for Power Q-8120

  • The Power Q-8120 is a 12-chamber professional compression therapy device optimized for home, clinical, and cosmetic use.
  • Provides all settings recommended for medical lymphedema treatment.
  • Supports 12 and 24-chamber cuffs; higher chamber counts allow finer regulation, crucial in severe cases.
  • Pressure per airchamber is individually adjustable.
  • Features 10 programs (A1-A2-B1-C1-C2-C3-D1-D1-D2-E1-E2).
  • Programs A1, C1, D1, D1, and E1 are recommended for lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombosis conditions. A1 is the mildest; C1 the strongest; D1 is intermediate.
  • Start with program A1 or E1, then move to stronger programs if needed.
  • These programs also assist athletes and stroke patients in muscle recovery.
  • Programs A1, B1, C1, C2, C2, C3, D1, E1, E2 inflate from bottom to top.
  • Programs A2 and D2 inflate from top to bottom and are not suitable for lymphedema.
  • A2 and D2 are for certain stages of peripheral arterial disease and post-surgical microcirculation improvement.
  • One or two cuffs can be inflated simultaneously with the same program.
  • Start treatment at 40-60 mmHg and 10-15 minutes, adjusting as effects are observed.
  • Avoid excessive pressure to prevent tissue hardening.
  • For heart disease or post-infarction patients use lower pressure and only one cuff at a time.

Treatment Information

Follow your doctor or therapist’s instructions.

Treatment Guidelines:

  • The device regulates pressure per chamber.
  • Use one or two cuffs with the same program.
  • Set pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-60-60-60-60-60-50-50-50-50-50-40-40-40-40-40-40 mmHg). Studies show this is effective for leg lymphedema.
  • Set pressure hold time to 5-7 seconds.
  • Initial treatments: 20 minutes; increase if needed. Rarely exceed 60 minutes per session.
  • Treat the waist before or simultaneously with the legs.
  • If swelling returns quickly, treatments multiple times daily are possible.
  • Total daily use should not exceed 120 minutes.
  • 40-60 mmHg is sufficient in most cases.
  • Monitor effects (circumference measurement or increased urination indicates fluid movement).
  • Adjust treatment individually and consult a lymphedema therapist.
  • Continue compression bandaging and clothing during lymphedema treatment.

Risks of Incorrect Therapy

International studies recommend 30-60 mmHg pressure to support lymphatic and venous circulation. Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries and tissue hardening.

In cases of heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-infarction, never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to avoid cardiovascular strain.

Avoid direct treatment of cancerous tissues to prevent possible spread; treating legs in thyroid cancer cases is acceptable.

Expected Results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort due to swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Increased mobility: Enhances joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Reduces risks of venous ulcers and thrombosis.

Recommended Treatment Duration

Treatment length and frequency depend on condition and individual factors. Sessions generally last 20-60 minutes and may be repeated daily or multiple times a day. Best results come from regular use over several weeks. Consult a lymphedema therapist for a customized plan.

Contraindications and Precautions

Mechanical compression therapy is contraindicated or requires caution in certain cases.

Do not use:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): Increased pressure may worsen circulation.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be harmful; use low pressure in limited areas.
  • Acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT): Compression may dislodge clots; strictly contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infection: Can spread pathogens (e.g., erysipelas).

Use caution with:

  • Leg swelling from abdominal tumors: only with oncologist approval.
  • Heart weakness, post-infarction, cardiomyopathy, uncontrolled hypertension: use lower pressure (40-50 mmHg), one cuff, and longer, slower treatments to avoid heart strain.
