Triathlon Pro: multifunctional electrotherapy device with TENS | EMS | MENS | MCR | FES | Iontophoresis programs
The device's hundreds of programs can aid in the treatment, improvement, healing, or prevention of thousands of issues.
The device is multifunctional, offering several types of electrical treatments. Each method is applicable for different problems.
TENS, or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, is mainly suitable for pain relief of musculoskeletal origin. It can also be used for menstrual pain and to a lesser extent for cancer-related pain reduction.
Electrical muscle stimulation is referred to as EMS or NMES in medical practice. It is used for muscle-related problems. The main application areas include muscle stiffness, muscle wasting, slowing down muscle strength and mass loss, improving blood circulation, and reducing muscle pain. Used pre-surgery preparation for musculoskeletal operations to improve surgical outcomes and as an essential part of post-surgical rehabilitation.
FES or functional electrical stimulation is often designated as a standalone treatment mode. In reality, it's also muscle stimulation done to restore some lost functions.
A few days after central paralysis (in fortunate cases), muscles partially regain their ability to move but become clumsy and weak. Muscle stimulation aimed at regaining strength and relearning movement is functional stimulation.
Microcurrent is an extremely mild current (for example, the current of TENS or muscle stimulation is about a thousand times stronger).
Microcurrent can be used for pain relief (called MENS, microcurrent nerve stimulation) or healing (called MCR).
Microcurrent accelerates healing of inflammatory processes (including tendonitis, arthritis, arthrosis, etc.). It reduces edema, making it useful for acute treatment of herniated discs, lumbago, sciatica, and other root symptoms. It speeds up healing of injuries, wounds, muscle tears, and more.
Microcurrent stimulates collagen production and thus wound and scar healing - this is also usable in beauty care, effective in restoring skin elasticity and wrinkle treatment.
Iontophoresis is a useful current type in treating joint inflammations and sports injuries. It allows delivering a (water-soluble, electrically charged) medicine directly to the problematic body part through the skin, avoiding the digestive system. This is its advantage. For example, in an ankle injury, oral medications reach all parts of the body but only a minimal amount reaches the ankle, whereas iontophoresis helps provide more medication to the ankle and less to other parts.

Electrotherapy treatments (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, ETS, CES, microcurrent, iontophoresis, denervated, selective current, Kotz, interferential, etc.) are safe and free of side effects.
Only a few conditions are considered contraindications.
Currently, ANY electrotherapy treatment is FORBIDDEN for patients with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Other conditions are not absolute contraindications; benefits and risks should be weighed by the attending physician.
If you are uncertain about applicability, read Dr. Zsolt Zátrok's article on Electric Treatment contraindications at the "Lifelong Healthy" blog. Click here.
A common misconception is that electrotherapy devices cannot be used in cases of metal implants, prostheses, bone plates, screws. This is an outdated notion. Read Dr. Zátrok Zsolt's article on the relationship between implants and electrical treatment Click here.
