Do you cycle—on the road, in the mountains, or long marathons? Quadriceps-hamstring imbalance, patellofemoral knee pain, lumbar low-back complaints, Achilles tendinitis? Need a device that provides cyclist-tailored programs. Cycling Pro offers exactly that: 46 dedicated cycling programs with separate road and mountain bike (MTB) protocols. A member of the 4-channel Globus Sport Pro line specifically for cyclists, it targets the quadriceps-hamstring-glute-calf triangle—plus iontophoresis and microcurrent for sports injuries. Why choose the Cycling Pro? 46 cycling-specific programs Separate protocols for road and mountain (MTB) cyclists: warm-up, explosive power (for sprints), endurance-strength (for long marathons), capillarization (oxygen transport), regeneration. Tailored to the quadriceps-hamstring-glute-calf muscle groups. 5 current types + iontophoresis TENS, EMS/NMES, MENS/MCR microcurrent, FES functional stimulation + iontophoresis. Iontophoresis can deliver medication through the skin directly to injured areas in sports injuries (patellofemoral syndrome, IT band syndrome, Achilles tendinitis)—an important adjunct for a competitive athlete. 23 microcurrent programs + inflammation reduction The microcurrent block is the richest in the portfolio: joint inflammation (patellofemoral, Achilles), tenosynovitis, lumbago, sciatica, injury regeneration. Microcurrent is thousands of times milder than TENS—imperceptible, yet studies suggest it may support reduction of inflammatory processes. 2+2 mode + Multiuser (10 users) Treat two patients simultaneously with a single device—ideal for training partners, teams, or clubs. Multiuser: 10 user profiles each with their own Favorites and treatment plans. Who is the Cycling Pro for? If you cycle on the road (racing, gran fondo, training) The road programs focus on aerobic endurance, endurance-strength and long-distance performance. Preparation for long gran fondos, complementing training plans, post-race recovery—all with dedicated protocols. The explosive power block can support sprint peaks (last 200 m, climb summit efforts). If you ride MTB (XCO, marathon, enduro, downhill) The mountain bike programs emphasize explosive power (technical sections), endurance-strength (long climbs), and calf + trunk stability protocols (ground vibrations, technical terrain). Special MTB-specific protocols—not generic “sport” programs. If you have cyclist knee pain (patellofemoral, Achilles) Patellofemoral syndrome ("runner's knee", but equally common in cyclists) and other tendon-ligament pains are among the most frequent cycling knee complaints. The 23 microcurrent programs target reduction of inflammatory processes and edema. The TENS block for knee pain and osteoarthritis can help pain relief. Iontophoresis enables targeted delivery of anti-inflammatory medication—by prescription from a treating physician. If you have back or neck pain after long rides Cycling posture (forward-leaning, prolonged position) often causes lumbar pain and neck tension. The “Chronic lumbago”, “Neck pain”, “Trapezius pain” TENS programs are designed for these issues. Capillarization and active recovery sports programs support muscle blood flow—which often weakens after long periods in the saddle. If you are rehabilitating after a cycling accident or knee surgery Three dedicated rehabilitation programs for post-knee-surgery recovery (especially after ACL reconstruction or meniscus). FES functional stimulation supports muscle relearning. The 18 3S sequential programs are particularly suitable for neurorehabilitation and muscle rebuilding. Use only when your treating physician or physiotherapist permits—do not start post-op rehab on your own. If you want to build muscle mass during the winter base phase During the off-season winter base phase many riders build general muscle mass for the spring season. Hypertrophy, maximal strength and endurance-strength programs with the 4-channel configuration can treat both thighs simultaneously. Noticeable differences can develop in 6–8 week cycles with 2–3 sessions per week—especially combined with regular resistance training and balanced nutrition. If you coach a cycling team The 2+2 mode lets you run a regeneration protocol on channels 1–2 while running another on 3–4—even with different current types. Multiuser supports 10 profiles, Own Program (15) and STIM LOCK allow each rider to run their coach-approved protocol. If you have chronic tendinopathy or Achilles complaints Achilles tendinitis and patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee) are common cycling complaints. The “Bursitis-tendinitis” TENS program and the 23 microcurrent programs can be complementary tools alongside sports medicine treatment. Iontophoresis enables targeted anti-inflammatory delivery—always with sports medicine consultation. How to use step by step? 1 Log into your profile (Multiuser) If used by a team or family, select your profile. From here you can access Favorites (15 programs), Last10 and Own Program (15) menus—each cyclist can build a separate treatment plan. 2 Select the program (road or MTB) Choose from the “Special Sport” menu: road or mountain cyclist, then warm-up, endurance, explosive power or regeneration. Use Last10 to quickly restart the last 10 favorites. 3 Apply electrodes on 4 channels The package includes 4 adhesive 50×50 mm (for smaller areas like calf, forearm) and 4 adhesive 50×90 mm (larger areas: thigh, back, abdominals) electrodes. The 4 colored cables are color-coded per channel. Use the 2 dedicated cables for microcurrent or iontophoresis treatments. 4 Start with feedback control The device automatically detects whether the electrodes have good contact. When connected to the mains charger the treatment CANNOT be started (for safety) — use the battery. 5 Intensity (0–120 mA) — even with AUTO STIM Set individually per channel from 0 to 120 mA. If you have used the program before, AUTO STIM restores the last intensity automatically. For a new program increase gradually—the 120 mA peak allows stronger sports-EMS muscle contractions. 6 Combine Run Time + 2+2 mode With Run Time you can change treatment time, frequency and pulse width during the program. In 2+2 mode you can run two different programs simultaneously (channels 1–2 and 3–4)—even to treat two cyclists at once. What can you use it for – 270+ programs with a cycling focus The Cycling Pro program library is tailored to cyclists. In addition to 46 dedicated cycling sport programs there are 23 microcurrent, 18 3S sequential, 53 general sport, and 12 TENS pain-relief protocols—this portfolio is a cyclist-focused value device. Special Sport – 46 cycling programs (HIGHLIGHT!) Two main branches: Road cycling: aerobic endurance (long gran fondo), endurance-strength (sustained tempo), explosive power (sprints, climb peaks), capillarization (oxygen transport improvement), warm-up and regeneration. Mountain biking (MTB): XCO/marathon, enduro, downhill-specific protocols—explosive power (technical sections), trunk stability (rough terrain), muscle protection. All 46 programs are tailored to the cyclist muscle profile: quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteals, calves, lumbar strengthening, core. Medical – 12 TENS + 23 microcurrent + 3 rehab + 1 iontophoresis TENS (12): pain-relief TENS, endorphin TENS, modulated TENS, bursitis-tendinitis (Achilles, patella, IT band), muscle pain, chronic pain, chronic lumbago (cycling low-back), menstrual pain, neck pain (cycling position), osteoarthritis, patellofemoral knee pain, shoulder pain. Microcurrent (23): joint inflammation, tenosynovitis, lumbago, sciatica, sports injury regeneration, edema treatment, support of collagen production. Frequently asked questions Can I use it with a pacemaker or implanted device? No. A pacemaker, implanted defibrillator (ICD) or any electronic implant is an absolute contraindication—for all current types (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, iontophoresis). Even extremely low microcurrent may interfere with the implant. If you have such a device, never use the device under any circumstances. Iontophoresis—can I use it myself for my knee pain? Iontophoresis requires more care than TENS or EMS because you are delivering a pharmaceutical agent under the skin. Always use it based on sports-medicine or physiotherapist recommendation—they will suggest the correct drug (e.g., a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparation by prescription) and the settings. The iontophoresis kit is NOT included in the package. Do NOT start iontophoresis on your own without sports-medical supervision. What is the difference between Cycling Pro and the other Sport Pro devices? The hardware is identical—the same 4-channel 160×99×35.4 mm device, the same 120 mA intensity, 0.3–150 Hz frequency, 50–450 µs pulse width. The difference is only in the sport-specific program library: Cycling Pro: 46 programs for cyclists (road, MTB). Runner Pro: dedicated programs for runners (sprint, middle distance, marathon). Soccer Pro: dedicated programs for footballers (explosive power, change of direction). Triathlon Pro: 60 programs across swim + bike + run. The Champion (Multisport): general multisport device with a richer 3S and ActionNow block. If you only cycle → Cycling Pro is the more precise choice. If you triathlon or train multisport → Triathlon Pro. How do I place electrodes for quadriceps training? The quadriceps (four-headed thigh muscle) is one of the main cycling muscles. Placement: place two large (5×9 cm) electrodes on the upper part of the thigh (upper third of the hip-knee line, approx. over vastus medialis and vastus lateralis), and two smaller (5×5 cm) electrodes above the patella (approx. 5–7 cm above the kneecap). The 4 channels let you treat both thighs at once. Detailed positioning instructions with illustrations are in the Hungarian user manual. If unsure, consult a sports physician or physiotherapist. When should I use EMS before and after competition? General guidelines: 2–3 weeks before competition: explosive power and endurance-strength programs (2–3 times weekly, 25–35 minutes). 1 week before competition: only warm-up and capillarization programs at lower intensity. Competition day: short or long warm-up program (10–30 minutes) on main muscle groups (quadriceps, hamstrings, calves). Post-competition: immediate active recovery program and capillarization within 24 hours. IMPORTANT: EMS devices must not be used during competition. They are permitted in warm-up and cool-down zones—check your event rules. I cycle a lot and have patellofemoral knee pain—can Cycling Pro help? Patellofemoral pain (PFP, “cyclist’s knee”) can arise from many causes—muscle imbalance (weak vastus medialis vs. dominant vastus lateralis), saddle position, loading errors. Cycling Pro can help as an adjunct across several domains: EMS: dedicated vastus medialis strengthening programs to restore muscle balance. TENS: “Knee pain” and “Osteoarthritis” programs for pain relief. Microcurrent: anti-inflammatory effects, edema reduction. Iontophoresis: targeted anti-inflammatory drug delivery (with sports-medical consultation). Important: treating PFP is complex—always under the guidance of a sports physician or physiotherapist, and alongside proper bike fit and training corrections. How should I combine it with traditional resistance training? EMS does not replace traditional resistance training but complements it. Some proven combinations: EMS training day: on a separate day, combined with easy cycling or recovery—do NOT use EMS on heavy resistance training days, to allow muscle recovery. ActionNow + resistance training: instant EMS activation during squats or leg exercises—the 7 ActionNow programs are designed for this. Active recovery after resistance training: 30–60 minutes after gym training use the active recovery program. Weekly rotation: 2 EMS sessions / 2–3 cycling sessions / 1–2 resistance sessions / 1–2 rest days depending on your program. For a precise plan, consult a cycling coach or sports physician. The following situations can make electrotherapy dangerous or cause side effects. If any apply to you, do not start using the device without consulting your treating physician. Restrictions also apply to iontophoresis and microcurrent functions. Wearing a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator (ICD) or any electronic implant—the electrical impulse, including microcurrent and iontophoresis, may interfere with their function Pregnancy (especially treatments of the lower abdomen, abdomen and lumbar area are forbidden) Epilepsy or other seizure disorders of the nervous system Active malignant tumor disease near the treatment area Acute inflammation or infection on the skin in the treatment area Deep vein thrombosis or known clotting tendency in the treated limb Skin injury, fresh scar, cycling accident abrasion or open wound in the treatment area (avoid until healed) Severe cardiovascular diseases (post-myocardial infarction phase, severe heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure) Placing electrodes on the front of the neck (carotid sinus region), on the skull or over the heart (unless explicitly approved by your treating physician) Reduced or absent skin sensation in the treatment area (neuropathy from diabetes, loss of sensation) Fresh metal implant (screw, plate) loosening or inflammation in the immediate area—consult your treating physician or sports physician Iontophoresis use: allergy to the substance to be delivered, known side effects, or absence of a medical prescription Children for unsupervised use (under 12 years only with adult supervision and physiotherapist guidance) Unsure? Always consult your treating physician, sports physician or physiotherapist before use—especially in chronic disease, medication use or any implanted medical device. Detailed information can be found in Dr. Zátrok Zsolt’s article on electrotherapy contraindications. Important information The Cycling Pro is a CE-certified Class IIa medical device (according to MDD 93/42/EEC), suitable for independent home and sports-practice use. However, its use does not in any way replace medical diagnosis, sports-medical advice, an individualized protocol from a qualified physiotherapist, a coach’s program, or prescribed medication. The device is an adjunct to existing training plans and therapy. In case of sports injury (fall, muscle tear, tendon strain, knee injury) or new symptoms always consult a sports physician or orthopedic specialist—the electrotherapy does not replace diagnostics and should not be used to “mask” symptoms that may indicate a more serious injury. For chronic cycling knee pain (patellofemoral, IT band) the cause must be clarified before regular TENS use—often a training correction or bike fit resolves the problem. The iontophoresis function requires particular caution—always use it with a sports-medical or physiotherapist prescription and a precise protocol for the substance to be delivered. Do NOT start iontophoresis alone without sports-medical supervision. The information on this page is general and does not replace individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult your treating physician about your specific complaints.
