Which device should I choose?

When choosing the right device several factors should be taken into account. The most important are the type and depth of the problem to be treated and the intended use.

Softlaser devices can be used for many health conditions, for example:

Quick selection guide:

Skin problems, wounds: B-Cure ClassicB-Cure ProPersonal-Laser L200Energy-Laser L800 Pro
Small-joint (fingers, wrist, elbow, ankle) issues: Personal Laser L400Energy Laser L500 Pro
Large-joint (knee, hip, shoulder, spine) issues: Energy Laser L500 Pro Energy Laser L2000 Pro
Professional use: PhysioLaser 500 PhysioLaser 1000

Selection criteria in detail:

By pain depth:
  • 660 nm (red): skin surface, wound healing
  • 808 nm (infrared): deeper tissues, joints
  • 904 nm (infrared): greatest penetration depth
By treated surface area:
  • 1 cm²: point treatment (L200, L400, L500)
  • 4.5 cm²: larger area (B-Cure series)
  • 11.3 cm²: largest area (L800 Pro, L2000 Pro)
By intended use:
  • Home: B-Cure
  • Clinic-only: PhysioLaser devices
  • Both home and clinic: Personal/Energy Laser series

Advantages and mechanism of softlaser therapy

Softlaser therapy offers many benefits, the most important being pain relief, inflammation reduction, tissue regeneration and accelerated healing.

Photobiostimulation effect:

The softlaser emits low-energy light that is absorbed by cells, primarily in the mitochondria (the cell's "power plants").

  • More energy (ATP) is produced in cells – this speeds up healing
  • Protein production increases – for example collagen and anti-inflammatory factors
  • Endorphin levels rise – these are natural pain relievers

Softlaser therapy is non-invasive, requires no surgery and generally has no side effects. It can also be used at home, which is convenient and cost-effective.

Softlaser wavelength ranges and effects

The physiological effect of softlaser depends mainly on wavelength and emitted energy. Softlasers typically operate in the 600–1000 nm range, where each wavelength has a specific effect and penetration depth.

Wavelength Color/Range Penetration depth Main effects
600–700 nm Red (visible light) 0.5 – 1 cm Superficial tissues, skin surface, mucosa treatment, wound healing
700–800 nm Near infrared 3–4 cm Medium depth: muscles, tendons, inflammations
800–1000 nm Near infrared 5 – 10 cm Deeper tissues: joints, muscle fibers, deep wounds

Wavelength-specific effects

630–670 nm (red light)

Biostimulation and wound healing

Stimulates cellular metabolism and accelerates wound healing. Suitable for: superficial skin wounds, ulcers, burns, herpes, acne, dental treatments.

780–850 nm (infrared)

Pain relief, anti-inflammatory

Acts to a depth of 3–4 cm. Suitable for musculoskeletal conditions, knee pain, arthritis, sports rehabilitation.

904 nm (pulsed infrared)

Deep tissue regeneration

Enhanced circulation, muscle regeneration, chronic inflammations. Suitable for deep muscle or joint injuries.

Effective applications of softlaser therapy

Softlaser therapy has proven effective across many areas.

In musculoskeletal disorders such as chronic arthritis, osteoarthritis, tendinitis and muscle pain, softlaser therapy has significant pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects.

In dermatology, it can deliver excellent results for hard-to-heal wounds, ulcers, scars and burns.

It is also effective in neurological conditions such as nerve pain, trigeminal neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy.

In dentistry, softlaser therapy can be used to support postoperative healing, treat gingivitis and oral ulcers.

Thus, softlaser therapy is widely applicable and provides effective support for many conditions.

Contraindications and risks

Although softlaser therapy is generally safe, there are certain contraindications and risks:

Absolute contraindications

  • Direct treatment of the eye
  • Direct treatment of malignant tumors
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Treating the abdominal area during pregnancy

Relative contraindications

  • Treating the thyroid area
  • Epilepsy
  • Use of photosensitizing medications
  • Feverish conditions

Side effects of softlaser therapy

Softlaser therapy is generally safe and does not cause serious side effects. However, like any treatment, it can cause some mild adverse effects such as skin irritation, temporary pain or inflammation at the treated site.

These effects are usually mild and short-lived and typically resolve quickly after stopping the treatment.

It is important to always follow the recommended protocol. Seek advice if you have any questions or problems during softlaser therapy.

General rules for softlaser treatment

The success of softlaser treatment depends heavily on following the correct application protocol. The most important points are:

Dose

Ensuring the correct energy density (J/cm²) is crucial. The optimal dose typically ranges between 1–10 J/cm² depending on the condition and tissue type.

Treatment time

Treatment time is determined by the device's power and the desired dose. Generally, treating a point can take from 10 seconds to several minutes.

Treatment frequency

In acute cases 1–2 treatments per day are recommended; for chronic conditions 2–3 sessions per week may be sufficient (often daily treatments are used).

Treatment series

Full healing takes time because the body changes gradually. For some conditions 8–15 treatments may be sufficient, but long-standing chronic issues may require 60–90 days depending on the underlying disease and severity.

If you have doubts about the effectiveness of softlasers, watch Dr. Zsolt Zátrok's video about the devices we distribute.

Deeper background: What is a laser?

A laser is a special light source that emits a very narrow, directional beam. The word "laser" stands for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation."

Laser light is monochromatic and largely parallel. Therefore it can be well focused and penetrate deeply into the body without damaging tissues.

Safety regulations

Class 1 laser devices emit low energy and can be used safely without protective goggles.

When treating with class 3 and 4 lasers, protective goggles are mandatory for both the operator and the patient.

Class 4 lasers must only be used by properly trained healthcare professionals.

Summary

Softlaser therapy is a safe and effective treatment method that can help treat many conditions when applied correctly.

The key to success is selecting the right device, using the correct dose and treatment protocol, and observing contraindications and safety rules.

Ongoing research and development will likely expand therapeutic applications and make this modern therapy even more effective.
