DermaDry Total Hyperhidrosis Treatment Device

The DermaDry Total hyperhidrosis treatment device offers a drug-free and needle-free solution for those suffering from pathological sweating of the palm, sole, or underarm.

The DermaDry device is specifically designed for home treatment of hyperhidrosis, making it very easy to use and learn within minutes. One session lasts 15-20 minutes. A course consists of 12-14 sessions, providing dry skin for 6-8 weeks. Sweating eventually returns, at which point another course is necessary.

Recommended for ages 13 and above. Younger children's skin is thinner and more sensitive, so they tolerate the treatment's discomfort less well.

• Tap water acts evenly. It eliminates pathological sweating over the entire treatment area of palm, sole, and underarm, not just part of it.
• A certain current intensity is required to stop sweating. If you do not feel the electric current, it means you have set a low current and can expect minimal effect.
• Success depends partly on the applied intensity. Higher current is more effective but can be uncomfortable.
• Each person tolerates different current intensities. Set the highest current you can tolerate painlessly according to your skin sensitivity!
• Your palm, sole, and underarm require different current intensities. Usually, the palm and sole tolerate higher currents than the underarm.
• Treatment frequency depends on hyperhidrosis severity. Mild cases can treat every other day, while severe cases may require two sessions per day.
• Treatments should be applied as a course. Treat intensively for 10-14 days, then switch to "maintenance" with 1-2 sessions weekly for 2-3 months to maintain the effect.
• If intense sweating restarts, begin a new intensive course.
• After a few months, tailor treatment based on your experience, adjusting according to how your sweating decreases or returns.
• Tap water iontophoresis does not cure hyperhidrosis itself! It's a symptomatic treatment that suppresses symptoms for weeks. Its main advantage is that no chemicals need to be taken or applied.

Contraindications

• Pacemaker
• Implanted defibrillator (ICD)
• Heart problems (e.g., arrhythmia)
• History of epileptic seizures

• Metal implant in or near the treatment area
• Extensive skin injury or loss (if too large to cover with petroleum jelly)
• Skin infection (erysipelas)
• Polyneuropathy in the treatment area
• Malignant tumor in the treatment area
• Acute phlebitis and thrombosis

Possible side effects

Iontophoresis side effects are almost always mild and temporary, disappearing shortly after stopping treatment.

• Irritation, redness (erythema), burning sensation, small blisters (vesiculation), and itching. If experienced, reduce intensity and wait for symptoms to disappear before next treatment.
• Paresthesia. Mild pain may be felt at the start or polarity switch of the electric current. Lowering intensity reduces this sensation (though effectiveness may slightly decrease).
• Increased sweating. Early treatments may seem to increase sweating. Don't worry, it normalizes and decreases after a few sessions.
• Dry skin. Iontophoresis can dry the skin. Use moisturizing cream after treatments.

What water to use?

Simple tap water is needed for treatment! Water quality may vary by location. Too soft water can reduce iontophoresis effectiveness as it lacks sufficient minerals or electrolytes (tiny electric particles). DO NOT use softened water!

If tap water treatment effect is mild, try:

• Add one teaspoon of baking soda to the water each time.
• Some clinicians report stronger effect with saltwater: add a quarter teaspoon (1 gram) of table salt to water for treatment.

Other information

Each treatment profile (palm, sole, underarm) has different maximum current intensities: 25 mA for sole, 15 mA for hand, and 8 mA for underarm. Voltage is also profile-limited: max 55 V for sole, 48 V for hand, and 30 V for underarm.
The device halts current increase when the maximum treatment voltage is reached for safety. This may mean treatment won't start with high skin resistance (e.g., dry, calloused palm). In such case, reduce skin resistance before treatment (see below).

High skin resistance

High skin resistance (thick, dry, hard skin) affects treatment.
For example, if you set 25mA for foot treatment but see only 15-20mA while voltage is 55 V, the device will not raise mA further. This safety feature prevents skin damage from too high current.

This means high skin resistance.
Skin resistance measures how easily skin conducts electricity; the device automatically calculates and adjusts treatment voltage accordingly.

Reducing skin resistance

• Soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes before treatment, then start right away.
• Measure exactly 250 ml water into each treatment tray.
• The water should be warm (body temperature, 36-38°C).

Treatment of extensive hyperhidrosis

Pathological sweating usually affects the palm, sole, and underarm areas. DermaDry targets these. Palm is not the same as hand! Sole is not the same as foot! The device is not suitable for treating dorsum of the hand, foot instep, chest, neck, back, or scalp sweating.

Iontophoresis is not suited for large body areas such as back, neck, abdomen, or thighs.

DermaDry is very effective, but only for palm, sole, and underarm areas.
