What are the contraindications?

Do not use with a pacemaker or other permanent electrical stimulator; pregnancy; cancer; ferromagnetic implants in the treatment area; serious arrhythmias; bleeding disorders; severe ischemic disease; fever; tuberculosis. Not recommended for children under 15. Consult your physician if in doubt.

How long does a treatment last?

Treatment time depends on the condition. For osteoarthritis or tendonitis, 30 minutes daily (3–4×/week) is suggested. For fractures, literature recommends 6–10 hours daily. The device timer is adjustable and stops automatically (1–60 minutes).

Can I use it at night while sleeping?

Yes. The Magnum XL is completely silent (under 30 dB) and comfortable to use during sleep. Its two channels let you treat two areas in parallel while you rest.

Realistic expectations: Magnetotherapy works as a course: measurable change is expected after several weeks of regular daily treatment — do not expect results from a single session. The two outputs are not two separate therapies: you can treat two body areas at once, but with the same program. Consistent daily treatment is what brings effect.
This is not the device for you if: you need to run two different programs in parallel — for that the Magnum 2500 or the Magnum 2 Pro Drive with 1+1 mode and truly independent channels is appropriate. If you plan to treat a single area, the Magnum L is available at a lower price.

Your ideal, individual settings should be provided by the physician or physiotherapist who knows your complaint. Practical note: there are two outputs but the price includes one applicator. In which situations can it be a good choice?

Treating both knees or two identical complaints at once

The Magnum XL has two outputs, so with two suitable applicators the same program can run in parallel on two body areas.

This can save time for treating e.g. both knees or both wrists. The basic package, however, contains only one applicator, so to use the second channel you must purchase a compatible applicator separately.

Bone fracture and delayed bone healing

The program library includes general fracture protocols as well as specific wrist, shoulder, forearm and tibial fracture and delayed consolidation protocols.

The magnetic field can be applied through cast and non-ferromagnetic fixation. With thick plaster it is recommended to correct intensity (increase by 20–50%). Apply this only adjusted to the fracture site.

Local treatment for neck, thoracic or lumbar complaints

There are factory programs for cervical osteoarthritis, back pain and spinal osteoarthritis.

The two channels do not allow running different programs on the neck and the lower back at the same time. Both outputs receive the same selected protocol.

Rotator cuff or carpal tunnel complaints

The device includes factory programs for rotator cuff tendon issues and carpal tunnel syndrome.

PEMF is an adjunct treatment. Addressing the underlying cause, ergonomics, strengthening and, if needed, medical evaluation remain essential.

Is the Magnum XL right for you?

Good choice if you plan to treat two identical or similar body areas with the same program.

Useful if you want a wider program selection and one user program slot compared with the Magnum L.

Practical for home use, you can treat two areas if you buy a second applicator.

Don't choose this if you need different programs on the two channels. For that you need a Magnum 2500 or Magnum 3000 Pro.

Not ideal purely for medical use, if you do not want to pay for ten Beauty/Fitness programs as well.

For large-area osteoporosis treatment a TotalBody mat is required.

What exactly does the two output channels mean?

The same program runs on both outputs

The Magnum XL does not have a 1+1 function, so both channels use the same selected frequency, time and program logic.

This is practical for two knees, two ankles or two identical local areas. Different programs for cervical osteoarthritis and low back pain cannot run in parallel.

The basic package contains only one applicator

The price includes one 30 × 10 cm flexible applicator and one fastening strap.

To use the second channel you must buy a separate compatible Globus applicator and, if needed, another fastening strap.

The 280 Gauss is not delivered to a single site

With the flexible applicator an average of 140 Gauss/channel is achieved. The 280 Gauss is the summed capacity of two operating channels.

Magnetic applicators and optional accessories

30 × 10 cm flexible applicator

Contains two coils, can be wrapped around a joint or placed along a long bone. Practical for knee, ankle, wrist, elbow and smaller bone sections. The 30×10 cm flexible applicator has 2 coils, therefore a maximum of 70 Gauss per coil is available.

Pocket Pro and Soft4 applicators

The Pocket Pro is convenient for small joints or local spinal areas; the Soft 4 applicator may be more comfortable for sensitive or painful sites.

Using two identical applicators simplifies bilateral treatment and provides comparable exposure.

Soft 4, Mat 100 and Total Body mats

For larger local areas choose Soft 4 or Mat 100; for long treatments of multiple body areas a Total Body mat may be appropriate.

When choosing, check the mat's channel requirements, coil count and Magnum XL compatibility. Mats are not included in the basic package.

Optional Y-cable

Connects two identical applicators to one channel. Channel power is shared between the two applicators.

The Magnum XL already has two direct outputs, so a Y-cable is usually unnecessary for two applicators.

Programmability: one user program can be created. This is an important difference compared with the simpler Magnum L and the Magnum XL Pro that stores more user programs.

How does PEMF treatment work?

The applicator coils create a time-varying electromagnetic field. This can be applied through thin clothing, bandages and plaster.

Actual exposure is determined not only by Gauss but also by frequency, duty cycle, treatment time, number of coils, polarity, distance and placement.

Opposed placement of two coils can create a linked magnetic field around a joint or bone segment.

Frequently asked questions

Can two different programs run at the same time?

No. The same selected program runs on both outputs. Models with 1+1 or 2+2 functionality are required for two different protocols.

Does the basic package include two applicators?

No. The current package contains one flexible applicator and one fastening strap. A second applicator is required for two-channel treatment.

Why is it two-channel if only one applicator is included?

The control unit is expandable: the second output can be used with a separately purchased applicator. This way the buyer pays for a second applicator only if they really need it.

Is it freely programmable?

Yes. One user program can be created and saved.

Can it be used from a battery?

An optional rechargeable battery is available. The 7.2 V / 1.8 Ah battery provides mains-independent use.

Suitable for full-body osteoporosis treatment?

The program is available, but the basic package only includes a local applicator. For whole-body or multiple large bone areas, a suitable Total Body mat is necessary.

Are Beauty/Fitness programs medical treatments?

No. The beauty applications are not covered by the CE 0476 medical device certification.

Is the treatment free of side effects?

Generally yes, but rarely drowsiness, restlessness, insomnia, nausea or slight warming of the applicator are reported.

Important information

The Magnum XL is a home PEMF device intended as an adjunct treatment. It does not replace diagnosis, fracture or osteoporosis monitoring, medication, exercise therapy or other necessary care.

The factory program name does not prove that the given complaint requires PEMF treatment without prior evaluation. Particularly for the “swollen legs” and “oedematous conditions” programs, the cause of swelling must be clarified first.

Scientific background

Evidence for PEMF varies by indication and protocol. In osteoarthritis several reviews found short-term pain or function improvement; there are also favorable results for low back pain and bone healing. These do not automatically validate all 26 Magnum XL programs, especially not the Beauty/Fitness programs.
