Let's be clear: this is not a humidifier!

How to use it?

Fill the reservoir with clean water, then add the appropriate amount of salt with the supplied measuring spoon — best is natural, additive-free rock salt, such as Parajd salt.

Setting up and using the SaltDome

• Preparation. First, connect the power adapter to the bottom of the device and plug it into the socket.
  Place the unit on a horizontal, hard surface. Do not put fabric or foam underneath, as it will block the bottom ventilation opening and the device may overheat.
• Preparing the saline solution. Pour 400 ml (4 dl) of water into a measuring cup and add one measuring spoon of salt. The spoon is included with the device. Stir until the salt dissolves.
  Attention! One measuring spoon of salt is about 1 gram. This may seem very little, but you don't need more for the therapeutic effect!
  Excessive salt inside the device — even on nearby furniture — can cause deposits. Too much salt can quickly damage the electronics.
  Think about it: at the seaside you don't see salt heavily deposited in the air or on the streets, and yet it has a beneficial effect.
  Use only the amount of salt I recommend (approx. 1 gram per 400 ml of water).
• Filling the reservoir. Remove the top part to reveal the water reservoir. Pour in the saline solution.
  A fill line on the side of the reservoir shows the maximum level.
  At the bottom you'll see a small depression. This is the ultrasond cell — it atomizes the saline solution.
• Switching on. Put the lid back in place.
  Turn on the device and direct the outlet so it blows the mist toward where you are located.
  The SaltDome can only be switched on if there is water in the reservoir — it will not run empty!

How can you tell it's working?

1. Check mist formation. Remove the lid. Press the Mist button. The device will switch on and the ultrasonic cell at the bottom of the reservoir will begin to bubble and splash.
   You can see how the ultrasonic waves create a small amount of salt mist.
2. Check the fan. Put the lid back on. You should feel a gentle airflow at the outlet.
   SaltDome is a halotherapy device. Its goal is not to raise humidity, but to produce salty air. The mist emitted from the device is often not even visible — this depends on room temperature and humidity. You know how in winter you can't see your breath indoors, but outdoors you can.
   Again: the SaltDome is not a humidifier but a halotherapy device, although running it for several hours will naturally raise the room humidity somewhat.
3. Check water consumption. The device emits a small amount of mist. In low mist mode about 60–80 ml of water is used in 6 hours, meaning the filled reservoir lasts 5–8 nights!
   If the reservoir level doesn't drop, you may have overfilled it above the maximum mark. The ultrasonic waves cannot penetrate a too-high water column, so little or no mist is produced.

How to apply it?

You can expect a meaningful health effect from halotherapy only if you stay in the salt mist for a long period. This means at least 2–3 hours at a stretch.

Therefore, if you are at work and the children are at school, running the device is pointless. Conversely, if you are at home in the kitchen, it's pointless that the device runs in the bedroom.

For this reason I recommend placing the halotherapy device on the bedside table or on a shelf above the bed and using it while you sleep.

In this situation you remain in one place for a long time and the salt evaporation will envelop you in a beneficial saline mist all night long.

The farther you place the device from your head, the less salt reaches you and the smaller the effect. Ideally the device should operate 1 to at most 1.5 meters from your head and blow the salty air toward you!

SaltDome device control buttons

1. Mist button. Pressing the Mist button turns the device on and sets the timer to 1 hour — a small LED lights up. When the set time elapses, the device switches off.
   Pressing the Mist button again sets the operation to 3 or 6 hours. These durations usually provide the best effect.
   A fourth press of the Mist button sets continuous mist production. The fifth press turns it off.
   Holding the Mist button down will turn the device off from any setting.
2. L/H (Low/High) mist output button. On power-up the device is in low mist mode and produces about 10–15 ml of mist per hour. In high mode it atomizes about 15–20 ml/hour.
   Allergic conditions generally benefit from the higher mist.
   In asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis or pneumonia it may happen that after using high mist and treatments longer than 3 hours coughing increases. This indicates too much mist. For these conditions use the device in low mode and/or avoid the 6-hour program — prefer 1–3 hours.
3. Light button. The device has LED illumination.
   A short press of the Light button turns the lighting on. The color then changes every few seconds.
   If you don't want the color changes, press the Light button again when your favorite color appears. This will lock the selected light so it remains constant.
