Device and Equipment
PeroBravo is a versatile stimulator device with 20 different programs that the patient can use at home without the presence of a physician. Its main application area is the treatment of peripheral paralysis of varying severity. Thanks to a special foot sensor it is suitable for treating peroneal nerve palsy and the resulting gait disorder (foot drop).
Ultrasound is excellent for cosmetic purposes. It can deliver the active ingredients of cosmetics into the deeper layers of the skin, which enhances the effect of these agents. I discuss this in the eighth episode of my film series on therapeutic ultrasound treatment. You can watch the previous episode (Determining the time required for an effective ultrasound treatment) by clicking here.
Cavitation is one effect of ultrasound treatment, primarily used for cosmetic purposes. Low-frequency ultrasound beams "bombard" fat cells, causing the cell membrane to rupture and the fat to be released. With 10–14 treatments you can lose about 2–3 cm in circumference on the abdomen, hips, thighs, etc. It should be noted, however, that only ultrasound frequencies below 640 kHz have a meaningful cavitation effect.
The M-Sonic 901 therapeutic ultrasound is a device that is easy to operate and set up. You can read more information about therapeutic ultrasound on my blog.
Cavitation is one application of ultrasound. In beauty care it is used to help get rid of stubborn fat deposits.
The SonoStim 922 combines the benefits of therapeutic ultrasound and microcurrent (MENS) treatment. These treatment methods are anti-inflammatory and stimulate the healing processes on their own; their combined use further enhances the beneficial effects.
These days replicas are enjoying a renaissance… You have surely experienced that when you buy a significantly cheaper, Chinese-made “replica” of a product, you do not get the same performance. In my childhood, for example, Matchbox cars were popular but expensive. Not everyone could afford them. So many people gifted the much cheaper Chinese knockoffs, which of course often fell apart under the Christmas tree during the first play, causing tears and wailing. My preserved Matchbox cars, however, were played with by my children for years and we put them away in excellent condition for the next generation of the family…
Anyone who has seen a blood pressure measurement might think nothing could be simpler. That's not always the case, and knowing a few basic rules can protect you from incorrect measurement results that could lead to a wrong diagnosis or unnecessary or inappropriate treatment.
Most people take medication to reduce pain. But what about those for whom drug side effects make that impossible? For them I recommend drug- and side-effect-free nerve stimulation pain relief methods, i.e. TENS and MENS treatments. Both are based on electrically stimulating nerves with impulses. Devices can offer several different programs with differing effects. Some are suitable for acute pain and are worth using for a few days only because they lose effectiveness if used longer. Others, conversely, can be used for chronic pain for years without tolerance or loss of effect. In this article I show when to choose which pain relief program.
The TENS electrode (commonly referred to as a TENS pad) is a fundamentally important accessory for at-home electrotherapy treatments (for example TENS – nerve stimulation, pain relief; EMS – muscle stimulation; Microcurrent – pain-relieving, healing-stimulating treatment; denervated – treatment of peripheral paralysis) because the impulse reaches your body from the device through the TENS pad placed on the skin. Without it there is no treatment and no effect. In this article I summarize the most important information to help you make the right choice.
One of the most effective ways to treat incontinence is muscle stimulation. A muscle stimulation device is usually a very simple tool and its use is not complicated — provided someone explains the steps properly. In this article I try to do exactly that.
