Details

The Flex-Ion devices are designed to restore the strength of the fingers, hand and forearm muscles, and to improve their flexibility and coordination.

They are suitable for home use and for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other rehabilitation professionals. Resistance is indicated by different colors:

  • Beige: 0.35 kg per finger, 1.1 kg per hand
  • Yellow: 0.7 kg per finger, 2.3 kg per hand
  • Red: 1.4 kg per finger, 4.5 kg per hand
  • Green: 2.3 kg per finger, 7.3 kg per hand
  • Blue: 3.2 kg per finger, 10.4 kg per hand
  • Black: 4.1 kg per finger, 14.1 kg per hand

You typically start with a lighter resistance and increase the level as your strength improves.

General Use

Use the Flex-Ion when muscle strength, range of motion or coordination has declined—such as after a stroke, spinal injury, surgery, accident or sports injury, or following immobilization from a fracture cast. For optimal recovery, consult a specialist (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, etc.) to determine the appropriate exercises and the correct resistance level. Starting with too high resistance can worsen symptoms.

Recommendations

  • Move slowly and comfortably, holding the buttons down for a few seconds before releasing.
  • Repeat each movement 10–15 times.
  • You may start with fewer reps—aim to increase daily.
  • Avoid overdoing it to prevent pain from overexertion. Patience and gradual progression are key!
  • Once you reach the target reps for an exercise, move on to the next.
  • After completing the series, repeat the entire cycle.
  • Your therapist will help design the program, set reps, monitor progress and adjust resistance over time to rebuild strength.
