Myolito TENS/EMS/FES Device 2-Channels

The Myolito is a modern, multifunctional electrical stimulation device developed by the German MTR+ for various muscle and nerve stimulation treatments. The device holds a medical CE certificate and complies with strict European regulations for medical devices.

The Myolito has two independent channels, allowing simultaneous treatment of two different areas (with the same treatment program).

Operating principle and mechanism of action

The Myolito uses low-frequency electrical impulses to stimulate muscles and nerves. It emits symmetrical, biphasic square impulses with adjustable frequency from 1 to 150 Hz and pulse width from 50 to 450 microseconds.

During electrical stimulation, impulses emitted by the device reach the skin surface through the electrodes, stimulating the underlying nerve and muscle fibers.

This results in various therapeutic effects such as pain relief, muscle strengthening, or incontinence treatment.

Application areas

The Myolito is versatile for treating various health problems.

One main application is pain relief, where the device helps release endorphins and works based on the pain gate theory. It is effective in treating neck, back, and lumbar pain, arthrosis, sports injuries, circulatory disorders, nerve pain, and muscle pain.

Muscle stimulation programs can prevent or delay muscle atrophy, strengthen weakened muscles, and improve muscle blood supply and endurance. The device is particularly useful in post-surgical rehabilitation or after prolonged immobilization to restore muscle function.

Another application is incontinence treatment. The Myolito offers various programs for both stress and urge incontinence. Targeted stimulation of pelvic floor muscles can significantly improve continence and quality of life.

Using and operating the Myolito device

The Myolito is easy to use and user-friendly.

The device operates with a 9-volt battery and, thanks to its compact size, is easily portable.

The LCD display provides clear information about the selected program and treatment parameters.

The device features 11 pre-programmed and one customizable program.

Before starting treatment, proper electrode placement is important.

Self-adhesive electrodes are included, which should be applied to the treatment area. There should be an optimal distance of approximately 20 cm between electrodes.

The stimulation intensity is adjustable between 0-80 mA and should always be set to a comfortable level without causing discomfort or pain.

The device has built-in safety features. If the circuit is interrupted (e.g., electrode detachment), the stimulation immediately stops. After one minute of use, intensity increase is locked to avoid accidental changes.

Intensity automatically decreases during phase shifts and must be reset to the desired level.

Therapeutic programs of Myolito

The Myolito offers various stimulation modes: continuous (CONT), burst (BURST), modulated (MOD), and work/rest (WORK/REST) modes.

In continuous mode, stimulation with constant frequency and pulse width takes place. Burst mode delivers groups of pulses. Modulated mode automatically varies parameters within a set range. Work/rest mode alternates active stimulation and rest periods.

Programs 1-4 primarily target pain relief with different frequencies and parameters.

Program 5 supports muscle relaxation and metabolite removal.

Programs 6-7 focus on muscle strengthening at various intensities.

Programs 8-12 are for treating different types of incontinence.

Contraindications

The stimulator is generally not recommended for patients with pacemakers, myocardial damage, arrhythmia, epilepsy, or inflammatory conditions.

During pregnancy, the device should not be used on the abdomen and elsewhere only after medical consultation.

The device must not be applied through the head, on the carotid artery area, near the heart, eyes, or larynx-pharynx region.

Electrodes must not be placed on damaged skin or directly on the spine.

Maintenance and lifespan

The Myolito is practically maintenance-free with an expected lifespan of 8-10 years.

A fully charged battery provides approximately 12 hours of treatment at 20 mA intensity.

The device has an IP20 protection rating, meaning it is not waterproof. Cleaning is done with mild detergent, water, and a damp cloth. It should not be submerged or exposed to extreme moisture.

Cables can be cleaned with a damp cloth and occasionally treated with talcum powder to maintain flexibility.

Documentation and tracking

The device has built-in therapy memory, allowing tracking of treatments. It records the number of treatments, duration, and applied intensity, which is useful for doctors or therapists to monitor treatment effectiveness.

The device comes with a detailed user manual in Hungarian and English, including illustrations for electrode placement.

Probe selection

Incontinence treatment can be done with self-adhesive electrodes or internal probes (the more effective method). Probes can be optionally purchased and are not part of the basic package.

The probe is a combination of plastic and metal. Electrode surfaces are coated with a very thin layer of gold, suitable even for metal allergies.

The therapy covers stress, urge, and fecal incontinence. Mixed incontinence can be treated with custom programs or by sequential application of stress and urge incontinence programs.
