Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit, also known as a pressure therapy or wave massage device. These three terms refer to the same device, with no difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but can also be used by therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

How it works

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, essentially an "air pump."

Cuffs connected to the device consist of multiple airchambers. The device inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

This compresses muscles, veins, and lymphatic vessels, directing excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical action reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers multiple modes allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment times to suit individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium can effectively treat various conditions and diseases, including:

  • Lymphedema (lymphatic edema): A lymphatic system disorder causing fluid accumulation and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by promoting lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, relieving heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Common after breast removal surgery due to impaired lymph flow. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Can aid in swelling management and improve joint mobility in affected patients.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce hematomas by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT): Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Different types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the specific body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for their respective body areas. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and used simultaneously if health permits.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating post-mastectomy arm lymphedema. Leg cuffs are available in knee-length or thigh-length sizes. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant forms for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Upper limb treatment

Lymphedema in the arm is usually unilateral – typically one arm cuff suffices. Athletes can use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and under the upper arm near the armpit. Choose size M or L.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

First measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-length and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. They can be expanded with zip extensions if needed!

Mid-length leg cuff

Knee-length, specifically for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment starts only 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable only for foot or ankle edema; higher edema requires long cuffs.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose vein complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs and expandable.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H=mid-length; M–L–XL=thigh length; green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Trunk, buttocks, and abdomen treatment

For the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen, pant and belt cuffs are available. These cuffs are necessary if lymphedema extends to the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic applications like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Fully surrounds the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Features a three-row zipper providing a wide size range (small–medium–maximum). Built-in airhose; no need to purchase additional airhose.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastener. Less effective than pant cuff but more affordable. Suitable for lymphedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=pant; M–L=belt cuff; green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is advisable. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

4-chamber cuff overview

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium offers all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Use programs A1, C, and E for treating lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E in the middle. Start with A1 and only switch if results are insufficient.

A1, C, and E programs can also improve muscle regeneration for athletes and post-stroke patients.

Programs A1-C-E work from bottom to top: the lowest chamber inflates first, then the next.

Program A2 is the opposite (top-down) and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose veins. It's recommended for certain peripheral arterial diseases in specific stages and post-surgical conditions to improve microcirculation.

Inflated chamber pressure compresses tissues below, "squeezing out" edema (lymphatic fluid).

The menu system is easy to use. Settings can be saved so next time you only need to press "start."

It's crucial that chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time can be set between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops when time expires.

Treatment guidelines

Follow instructions from your doctor or therapist.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not advised.

Start initial treatments with program A1.

Set pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this yields the best results for leg lymphedema.

Keep each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer hold times ensure more effective lymphedema treatment.

Start with a 20-minute session.

Observe treatment effects, and increase to 30 minutes if needed. It's better to have multiple 30-minute sessions than rare longer ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after every session.

Risks of incorrect use

Use 30-60 mmHg pressure for lymphatic and venous circulation; international studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure can cause micro-injuries, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening conditions. Avoid aggressive high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-infarction should be cautious: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to avoid heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue, as it may promote spread. However, legs can be safely treated in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively reduces limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort from swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by decreasing swelling and stiffness.
  • Complication prevention: Lowers risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended duration of use

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments usually last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. For optimal results, use regularly over weeks. Consult a lymphedema therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Machine compression therapy is not suitable in certain cases, and in others requires caution and lower pressure.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure may be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments should be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression can dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage can spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Lymphedema after lymph node removal (e.g., after Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors should be managed under oncologist guidance.
  • Heart diseases and hypertension require extra caution: use one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and prefer longer sessions over higher pressure.
