Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit, also known as a pneumatic compression or wave massage device. These three terms refer to the same device with no difference.
The unit is primarily designed for home use, but can also be used by therapists and smaller clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that meets strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, essentially an "air pump".

It connects to cuffs consisting of multiple airchambers. The unit inflates and deflates these chambers sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

This compresses muscles, veins, and lymphatic vessels, directing excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical action reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers various modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to suit individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effective for treating various conditions, including:

  • Lymphedema: a lymphatic system disorder causing fluid accumulation and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by promoting lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: improves venous return, alleviating leg heaviness, pain, and swelling linked to venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: common after breast removal surgery due to lymphatic disruption; the device aids in reducing this postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: assists in reducing swelling and improving joint mobility in patients.
  • Postoperative hematomas: supports reduction by improving circulation and absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: used prophylactically to prevent clots in patients at risk.
  • Sports recovery: excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff Selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Select the cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for specific body parts. The device can connect up to three cuffs and, if health permits, use them simultaneously.

The arm cuff is particularly suitable for treating arm edema after breast surgery. Leg cuffs are available up to knee or thigh length. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant form for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Upper limb treatment

Lymphedema in the arm usually occurs unilaterally — one arm cuff is typically sufficient. Athletes can use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchasing, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and under the upper arm near the underarm. Choose size M or L.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

Measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh first. Knee-length and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. Zip extensions can be added if needed!

Half-length leg cuff

Knee-length, specifically used for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (only can start 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable for edema limited to foot or ankle; longer cuffs needed for higher edema.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or as pairs and extended.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H=half height; M–L–XL=thigh length; green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Waist, buttocks, and abdomen treatment

Pant and belt cuffs are available for the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These cuffs are needed if lymphedema reaches the thigh. Suitable also for cosmetic treatments like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Completely surrounds the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Offers wide sizing with a three-row zipper (small–medium–maximum). Built-in airhose; no need for additional airhose purchase.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastening. Less effective than pant cuffs but more affordable. Suitable for lymphedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=Pant; M–L=belt cuff; green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is advisable. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or uncontrolled hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Programs A1, C, and E are for treating lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E intermediate. Start with A1 and only switch if results are insufficient.

A1, C, and E also improve muscle regeneration in athletes and post-stroke patients.

The A1-C-E programs operate from bottom to top: first the lowest chamber inflates, then the next.

The A2 program is reversed (top-down) and never used for lymphedema or varicose veins. It’s recommended in some peripheral arterial diseases and postoperative states to improve microcirculation.

Pressure from the inflated chamber compresses underlying tissues, "squeezing out" edema (lymphatic fluid).

The menu system is easy to operate. Settings can be saved so that next time only the “start” button needs to be pressed.

It's especially important that chamber pressure be individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time is adjustable between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops when time expires.

Treatment Guidelines

Follow your doctor or therapist's instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Start treatments with the A1 program.

Set pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this gives the best results for leg lymphedema.

Maintain each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer hold time ensures more effective lymphedema treatment.

Begin with a 20-minute session.

Observe effects and increase to 30 minutes if needed. Multiple 30-minute sessions are better than fewer long ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after every session.

Risks of Improper Use

Apply 30-60 mmHg for lymphatic and venous circulation as recommended by international studies.

Higher pressure can cause micro-injuries, harden edematous tissues, and worsen the condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-infarction require caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to avoid heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread. However, foot treatment is safe in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected Results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Eases discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Lowers risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended Usage Duration

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Sessions typically last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. For optimal results, use regularly over several weeks. Consult a lymphatic therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and Precautions

Machine compression therapy is unsuitable or requires caution and lower pressure in certain cases.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure can be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts may be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage may spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Post-lymph node removal edema (e.g., after Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling linked to tumors should only be treated under oncologist supervision.
  • Heart diseases and hypertension require heightened caution: only one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and longer sessions are advised rather than higher pressure.
