Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is an advanced compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pneumatic compression device or wave massage device. These terms refer to the same device without any difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but can also be used by therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates using a pneumatic compressor, basically an "air pump." It connects to cuffs made of multiple airchambers. The machine inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massage effect.

This compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels, guiding excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers multiple modes allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment times according to individual needs.

Conditions and diseases it can treat

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effectively used for various conditions including:

  • Lymphedema: A disorder of the lymphatic system causing fluid buildup and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: The device improves venous return, relieving leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Common after breast removal surgery due to lymphatic flow obstruction; the device reduces postoperative edema.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Aids in reducing postoperative bruising by improving circulation and absorption.
  • Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT): Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in at-risk patients.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff variety

Accessories for the device can be purchased separately. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Select the cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for their respective body parts. The device can connect up to three cuffs and - if health permits - can use them simultaneously.

The arm cuff is particularly suitable for post-breast surgery arm edema treatment. Leg cuffs are available to knee or thigh length. Waist cuffs come as belts or pant forms for upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen treatment.

Upper limb treatment

Lymphedema in the arm is commonly unilateral – usually one arm cuff suffices. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro straps secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and the part of the upper arm under the underarm. Choose M or L size.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

First, measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee to thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. They can be extended with zipper extensions if needed!

Mid-height leg cuff

Knee-length cuff used especially for post-thrombotic syndrome (treatment should start only 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable only for edema reaching up to foot or ankle; longer cuff needed for higher edema.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs and extended.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H=mid-height; M–L–XL=thigh length; green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Waist, buttocks, and abdomen treatment

For upper thigh, hip, buttock, and abdomen areas, pant and belt cuffs are available. These cuffs are necessary if lymphedema reaches the thigh. Also suitable for aesthetic treatments like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Completely covers the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. The triple zipper provides a wide size range (small–medium–maximum). Built-in airhose; no need for extra airhose purchase.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastening. Less effective than pant cuff but more affordable. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=pant; M–L=belt cuff; green line and italic values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes it is advisable to use multiple cuffs simultaneously. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated high blood pressure.

Overview of 4 chamber cuffs

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombosis conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Programs A1, C, and E are used for the treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic states.

A1 is the mildest, C is the strongest, and E is intermediate. Start with A1 and only switch if results are insufficient.

Programs A1, C, and E may improve muscle recovery in athletes and post-stroke patients.

Programs A1-C-E work from bottom to top: the lower chamber inflates first, then the next.

The A2 program is reverse (top-down) and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose vein disease. Recommended for improving microcirculation in certain peripheral arterial disease stages and post-surgical conditions.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses underlying tissues, "squeezing out" edema (lymphatic fluid).

The menu system is easy to operate. You can save settings to just press "start" next time.

It is especially important that chamber pressure can be individually adjusted for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time adjustable between 5 and 99 minutes; the device stops when time is up.

Treatment guidelines

Follow your doctor or therapist's instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Start initial treatments with program A1.

Adjust pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure decreasing upward (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show best results for leg lymphedema this way.

Keep each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer hold time ensures more effective lymphedema treatment.

Start with 20 minutes per treatment.

Monitor treatment effects and if needed increase to 30 minutes. It's better to have multiple 30-minute sessions than rare long ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after each session.

Risks of improper use

Sufficient pressure for lymphatic and venous circulation is 30-60 mmHg. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure can cause micro-injuries, harden edematous tissues, and worsen conditions. Avoid aggressive high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack require caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and only use one cuff at a time to avoid heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread. However, leg treatment is safe in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively reduces limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Complication prevention: Reduces risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended duration of use

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments usually last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. For optimal results, use regularly over several weeks. Consult a lymphotherapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Machine compression therapy is unsuitable or requires caution in certain cases with lower pressure:

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure can be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; strictly contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage can spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Lymphedema after lymph node removal (e.g., after Wertheim surgery) requires specialist oversight.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist supervision.
  • Heart disease and high blood pressure require increased caution: use only one cuff at lower pressure (40-50 mmHg) and prolong sessions rather than increase pressure.
