Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pressure therapy unit or wave massage unit. These three names refer to the same device with no difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but is also suitable for therapists and smaller clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating principle

The device operates based on the so-called pneumatic compressor, an "air pump".

Cuffs composed of multiple airchambers are connected to the device. The unit inflates and deflates these chambers sequentially. This creates a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels inside, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (interstitial fluid), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes the muscles.

The unit offers multiple modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effective for treating various conditions, including:

  • Lymphoedema: a lymphatic system disorder causing fluid buildup and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by promoting lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: It improves venous return, relieving leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Arm swelling after breast removal surgery is common due to impaired lymph flow. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce this postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Assists in managing swelling and improving joint mobility in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce postoperative hematomas by enhancing circulation and absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports recovery: excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff selection

Accessories for the device can be purchased separately. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for the respective body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and - if health conditions permit - used simultaneously.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for post-mastectomy arm edema treatment. Leg cuffs are available in knee-length or thigh-length sizes. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant form for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Upper limb treatment

Arm lymphoedema usually affects one side – one arm cuff is typically sufficient. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fastens the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and upper arm under the armpit. Choose size M or L.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

First measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-high and thigh-high cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. Can be extended with zip extensions if needed!

Mid-calf leg cuff

Knee-high, specifically for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (only after 3-4 months post-thrombosis). Suitable for edema limited to foot or ankle; longer cuff required for higher edema.

Thigh-high leg cuff

Ideal for lymphoedema, lipedema, varicose issues, post-thrombotic states, and muscle regeneration. Used alone or in pairs, expandable.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H=mid-height; M–L–XL=thigh length; green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Trunk, buttocks and abdomen treatment

Pant and belt cuffs can be chosen for the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These are needed if lymphoedema extends to the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic uses like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Fully encircles the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Offers a wide size range (small–medium–maximum) with triple zipper. Built-in airhose; no additional airhose purchase needed.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastening. Less effective than pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuff PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=pant; M–L=belt cuff; green line and italic value=length in cm; red line and bold value=circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is advisable. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphoedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic states.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Use programs A1, C, and E for lymphoedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E the medium. Start with A1, switching only if results are insufficient.

A1, C, and E improve muscle recovery for athletes and post-stroke patients.

Programs A1-C-E operate bottom-up: lower chamber inflates first, then the next.

Program A2 is reverse (top-down) and should never be used for lymphoedema or varicose veins. It is recommended for certain peripheral arterial disease stages and post-surgical conditions to improve microcirculation.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses underlying tissues, "squeezing out" edema (lymph vessel).

The menu is user-friendly. Settings can be saved, so next time you only have to press "start".

Individualized chamber pressure adjustment is particularly important for optimal leg lymphoedema therapy.

Treatment time can be set from 5 to 99 minutes. The device stops when time ends.

Treatment guidelines

Follow your doctor's or therapist's instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Start treatments with program A1.

Set pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this achieves best results for lower leg lymphoedema.

Maintain each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer hold times provide more effective lymphoedema treatment.

Begin with a 20-minute session.

Monitor treatment effect and increase to 30 minutes if needed. Better to have multiple 30-minute sessions than rare long ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after each session.

Risks of incorrect use

For lymph and venous circulation, 30-60 mmHg pressure is sufficient. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack require caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to prevent heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread; however, legs can be safely treated in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort from swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Reduces risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended duration of use

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments typically last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily as needed. For optimal results, use regularly for several weeks. Consult a lymph therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Machine lymphatic massage is not suitable in some cases or requires caution and lower pressure in others.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure can be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments should be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g. erysipelas): Massage can spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Post-lymph node removal edema (e.g. after Wertheim operation) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist supervision.
  • Heart diseases and hypertension require extra caution: use one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and extend session length rather than increase pressure.
