Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also referred to as a pressure therapy device or wave massage device. These three terms refer to the same device, with no difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but can also be used by therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that meets strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates on the basis of a pneumatic compressor, an "air pump."

The device connects to cuffs made of multiple airchambers. The machine inflates and deflates them sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses the muscles and the blood and lymph vessels within them, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes the muscles.

The device offers multiple modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment times to suit individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effective in treating various conditions and diseases, including:

  • Lymphedema: A disorder of the lymphatic system causing fluid accumulation between tissues and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, alleviating leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Arm swelling after breast removal surgery is common due to lymphatic disruption. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce this postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: The device may help manage swelling and improve joint mobility in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Aids in reducing postoperative bruising by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent blood clot formation in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports regeneration: Excellent for enhancing muscle recovery.

Cuff selection

Accessories are available separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the body part you want to treat.

The arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for specific body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and, if health permits, used simultaneously.

The arm cuff is particularly suitable for treating arm edema after breast surgery. Leg cuffs are available in knee-length or thigh-length sizes. Waist cuffs come as belts or pant cuffs for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Treatment of upper limbs

Lymphedema occurring on the arm is usually unilateral – one arm cuff is generally sufficient. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and upper arm below the underarm. Choose size M or L.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italicized number = length in cm; red line and bold number = circumference in cm.

Treatment of lower limbs

First measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee- and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. They can be expanded with zip extensions if needed!

Half-height leg cuff

Knee-length, specifically for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment should begin only 3–4 months after thrombosis). Used only for edema up to foot or ankle; higher edema requires a long cuff.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs, expandable.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H = half height; M–L–XL = thigh length; green line and italicized number = length in cm; red line and bold number = circumference in cm.

Treatment of waist, hip, and abdomen

Pant and belt cuffs are available for the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These cuffs are needed if lymphedema extends to the thigh. They are also suitable for cosmetic applications such as cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Completely surrounds the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Features a three-row zipper offering a wide size range (small–medium–maximum). Built-in airhose; no additional airhose purchase required.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastening. Less effective than the pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P = pant cuff; M–L = belt cuff; green line and italicized number = length in cm; red line and bold number = circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is recommended. Contraindicated in cases of heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device features 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Programs A1, C, and E are used for treating lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E intermediate. Start with A1 and switch only if results are insufficient.

Programs A1, C, and E may also improve muscle recovery in athletes and post-stroke patients.

Programs A1-C-E work from bottom to top: the lower chamber inflates first, then the next.

The A2 program is reversed (top-down) and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose veins. It is recommended in certain stages of peripheral arterial disease and post-surgical conditions to improve microcirculation.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses the underlying tissues, "squeezing out" edema (from lymph vessels).

The menu system is user-friendly. Settings can be saved so next time you just press the "start" button.

It is especially important that the chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time is adjustable between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops after the set time.

Treatment guidelines

Follow the instructions of your doctor or therapist.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Start initial treatments with the A1 program.

Set pressure so that the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g. 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this achieves the best results for lower leg lymphedema.

Keep each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing a complete cycle per minute. Longer hold times provide more effective lymphedema treatment.

Begin with 20 minutes of treatment.

Monitor treatment effect and increase to 30 minutes if needed. It's better to have several 30-minute sessions than infrequent long ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after each treatment.

Risks of improper use

For lymphatic and venous circulation, applying 30-60 mmHg pressure is sufficient. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure can cause micro-damage, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening the condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack require increased caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to prevent heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread. However, legs with thyroid cancer can be safely treated.

Expected outcomes

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Alleviates discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Lowers risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis.

Recommended treatment duration

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments generally last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. For best results, use regularly over several weeks. Consult a lymphatic therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Machine compression therapy is unsuitable in some cases and requires caution and lower pressure in others.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure may be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression can dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage may spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Lymphedema after lymph node removal (e.g., post-Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist guidance.
  • Heart disease and hypertension require extra caution: use only one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and extend sessions rather than increasing pressure.
