Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pneumatic pressure therapy device or wave massage machine. These three terms refer to the same device, with no difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but is also suitable for therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates using a pneumatic compressor, a "air pump."

Cuffs composed of multiple airchambers are connected to the device. The unit inflates and deflates these chambers in sequence, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers various modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can be treated?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effectively used to treat various conditions and diseases including:

  • Lymphoedema: A disease of the lymphatic system causing fluid buildup between tissues resulting in swelling. The device helps reduce this swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: The device improves venous return, relieving leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Swelling after breast removal surgery is common due to lymph flow disruption. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce this postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: The device can aid in managing swelling and improving joint mobility in those with rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Post-surgical hematomas: It helps reduce postoperative bruising by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration efficiency.

Cuff Range

Accessories for the device can be purchased separately. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the desired body part treatment.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for their respective body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and, if health permits, used simultaneously.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating arm edema after breast surgery. Leg cuffs are available in lengths up to knee or thigh. Waist cuffs come as belts or pants for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Upper Limb Treatment

Arm lymphoedema usually occurs unilaterally – one arm cuff is generally sufficient. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm Cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and upper arm below the underarm. Choose size M or L.

Lower Limb Treatment

First, measure your ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-length and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. Expandable with zipped extensions if needed!

Mid-length Leg Cuff

Knee-length, specifically used to treat post-thrombotic syndrome (treatment begins only 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable for edema limited to foot or ankle; for higher edema, long cuff is necessary.

Thigh-length Leg Cuff

Ideal for lymphoedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Usable individually or in pairs, expandable.

Waist, Buttock, and Abdomen Treatment

Pant and belt cuffs are available for the upper thigh, hip, buttock, and abdomen. These cuffs are necessary if lymphoedema reaches the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic applications such as cellulite and cavitation.

Pant Cuff

Fully surrounds the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Offers a wide size selection (small–medium–maximum) with triple zip. Built-in airhose; no need to purchase another airhose.

Belt Cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastener. Less effective than pant cuff but more affordable. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuff PQ-1000 Plus Premium

Cuff Combinations

Using multiple cuffs simultaneously can sometimes be beneficial. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium offers all medically recommended settings for home maintenance therapy of lymphoedema, varices, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Programs A1, C, and E are used for treating lymphoedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic states.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E is medium. Start with A1 and switch only if results are insufficient.

The A1, C, and E programs improve muscle recovery in athletes and post-stroke patients as well.

A1-C-E programs work from bottom to top: first the lower chamber inflates, then the next.

Program A2 is opposite (top-down) and should never be used for lymphoedema or varicose veins. It is recommended in certain peripheral artery disease stages and postoperative conditions to improve microcirculation.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses tissues beneath, "squeezing out" edema (lymph vessels).

The menu system is easy to operate. Settings can be saved so only the "start" button needs to be pressed next time.

It is particularly important that chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphoedema treatment.

Treatment duration can be set between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops automatically after time ends.

Treatment Guidelines

Follow your doctor’s or therapist’s instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not advised.

Start initial treatments with program A1.

Set pressure so that the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this achieves the best results in lower leg lymphoedema.

Maintain each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer hold times provide more effective lymphoedema treatment.

Begin with a 20-minute session.

Monitor results and increase to 30 minutes if necessary. Multiple 30-minute sessions are better than fewer long ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Evaluate effects after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after every session.

Risks of Incorrect Use

For lymphatic and venous circulation, pressures of 30-60 mmHg are adequate. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressures may cause microinjuries, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening the condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-myocardial infarction need extra caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to prevent heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread. However, leg treatment is safe for thyroid cancer cases.

Expected Results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Eases discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Lowers risks of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendencies.

Recommended Duration of Use

Frequency and length depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments usually last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. Regular use over weeks yields optimal results. Consult a lymph therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and Precautions

Compression therapy may not be suitable in some cases or require caution and lower pressures in others.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure may be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g. erysipelas): Massage may spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Edema after lymph node removal (e.g. Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist guidance.
  • Heart diseases and high blood pressure need extra caution: use one cuff only at lower pressure (40-50 mmHg), extending sessions rather than increasing pressure.
