Saves time and money. Is this complaint mine — is it right for me? Find your situation in the list below. If you recognize it, the Genesy 1500 is likely to help — in consultation with your treating physician or physiotherapist. If your lower back, neck or shoulder has hurt for months or years For chronic low back, neck and shoulder pain, TENS programs can bring immediate, noticeable relief (pain perception decreases during treatment). For deeper lying muscle and joint issues, interferential (IF) programs provide a gentler and deeper effect. Specific programs available: sciatica, chronic lumbago, cervical pain, shoulder-scapular syndrome, whiplash, trapezius pain. Details: TENS main guide and IF main guide. If you have knee pain or knee osteoarthritis There is a dedicated TENS program for acute knee pain and a separate microcurrent program for knee osteoarthritis. TENS gives quick relief for acute pain spikes; for chronic complaints, a microcurrent course provides meaningful support after 2–4 weeks of regular use. Detailed information in the microcurrent and joint inflammation article. Important: the primary treatment for osteoarthritis is exercise, weight control and prescribed medication — electrotherapy is complementary to these. If you had surgery and want to continue rehabilitation at home After knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, shoulder dislocation or spine surgery, muscles can weaken easily. The Genesy 1500 EMS programs actively work your muscles, even if pain prevents you from moving at full strength. Specific rehab programs: ACL post-op recovery, shoulder dislocation prevention, vastus medialis strength recovery, lower limb muscle recovery, muscle spasm relief. Important to know: before post-op use, consult your treating physician about the start time and electrode placement. If you exercise and want faster recovery or strengthening 53 sport programs: warm-up, maximal strength development, endurance strength, explosive power, hypertrophy (muscle mass), capillarization and active recovery (reduce post-workout soreness). Plus 84 ActionNow programs — instantly startable stimulation bundles to combine with training. Important: EMS DOES NOT replace exercise — it complements it. Your fitness still depends on training. If you have a hard-to-heal wound (leg ulcer, pressure sore) For chronic wounds that haven’t healed for months (leg ulcers, chronic heel wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores) the microcurrent program (MENS/MCR) can provide meaningful support alongside standard wound care. Microcurrent is so gentle you do not feel it — therefore it is suitable near sensitive, inflamed skin. Important: wound care is a specialist task — discuss starting treatment with your GP or wound care specialist. Details: Leg ulcer treatment. If you have tennis elbow, shoulder inflammation or Achilles pain Dedicated TENS and microcurrent programs are available for chronic tendon inflammations (tennis elbow, shoulder tendinopathy, Achilles tendinitis, rotator cuff tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome). Microcurrent may support cellular regeneration, while TENS provides pain relief. Important: these complaints usually take time to improve — plan for 4–6 weeks of regular treatment. If you want to recover movement after a stroke or have peripheral nerve injury FES (functional electrical stimulation) programs support post-stroke rehabilitation (hemiplegia — relearning upper and lower limb movements). Separate denervated muscle programs are available for peripheral nerve injury (triangle, trapezoid and square pulses — selected based on damage severity). Important: the Genesy 1500 does not include the Rheobase / Chronaxie diagnostic module found in the Genesy 3000 — if you need precise parameter setting, consider the larger model. Post-stroke rehab requires consultation with a neurologist and physiotherapist. If you want to deliver active ingredient deeper (iontophoresis) The iontophoresis program (channel 1) lets you deliver an anti-inflammatory, anesthetic or acetic-acid based preparation under the skin — deeper than a simple cream. Typical uses: tennis elbow, heel spur, subacromial bursitis. The iontophoresis sponge pad is sold separately (not included). Important: choice of drug is a medical task — consult your treating physician or pharmacist. Details: Iontophoresis main guide. How to use the Genesy 1500 at home 1 Turn on the device After switching on, choose your user profile (up to 10 different profiles can be stored — for example one per family member). The device remembers your last 10 used programs and your favorites. 2 Select the program for your complaint From the Hungarian menu choose by complaint (e.g. “Chronic lumbago”, “Knee osteoarthritis”, “Maximal strength”). The device automatically sets the appropriate current type, frequency and pulse width — you do not need to choose technical parameters. 3 Apply the electrodes Place the adhesive electrodes included in the package around the painful area or the muscle, as recommended by your physiotherapist. The device detects if an electrode is not adhering properly — in that case it will stop the current for safety. 4 Set to a comfortable level Start the program and slowly increase intensity with the intensity knob. For TENS, increase to a pleasant tingling; for EMS, to a noticeable (but pain-free) muscle contraction. Microcurrent is typically not felt — this is normal. If you feel pain, decrease immediately. 5 Relax during treatment Use the device sitting or lying down — while watching TV, reading or resting. A session typically lasts 15–60 minutes — the device does the work and stops automatically at the end. 6 Save your favourites Save effective programs to Favorites (15 programs per user) — next time you can start with one button. If your physiotherapist prescribes a specific setting, you can save it as your own program (Easy Program feature). Which treatment methods are included and what are they good for? The Genesy 1500 contains the same main electrotherapy methods as the larger Genesy 3000. Here are the most important differences from a patient perspective: TENS – for pain relief: a noticeable tingling on the skin that reduces pain perception during the session. For acute and chronic pain (back, neck, shoulder, knee, menstrual pain). 33 complaint-tailored programs. Details: TENS main guide. EMS / NMES – for muscle strengthening, rehabilitation: evokes visible muscle contractions that “work” the muscle even if pain limits active movement. Post-op rehab, sport-strengthening, prevention of muscle atrophy. Details: EMS main guide. Microcurrent (MENS / MCR) – for wound healing, inflammation reduction: so gentle you typically do not feel it. Supports cellular-level regeneration and inflammation control. Adjunct treatment for hard-to-heal wounds, chronic tendon inflammations, joint inflammation. 23 complaint-tailored programs. Details: Microcurrent main guide. FES – for relearning movement after stroke: supports muscle activation after central paralysis (post-stroke), helping relearning. Recommended only under specialist supervision. Denervated muscle program – for peripheral paralysis: for muscles that lost their nerve connection, this program directly activates muscle fibers. Triangle, trapezoid and square pulses according to damage severity. Kotz (Russian) stimulation – for sport muscle strengthening: strong, mid-frequency impulse. Used by athletes for maximal strength development and as a training supplement. Interferential (IF) – for deep muscle and joint pain: a gentler sensation on the skin than TENS and penetrates deeper. For chronic low back and neck complaints, joint pain. Details: IF main guide. Iontophoresis – to deliver anti-inflammatory agents: uses direct current to help an active agent (e.g. diclofenac, acetic acid, lidocaine) penetrate deeper under the skin. Typical uses: tennis elbow, heel spur. Details: Iontophoresis main guide. If you are unsure which method suits your complaint, read the decision support guide: Which electrotherapy is for what. Video guides — see how to use it The four video guides apply to all 4-channel Globus devices (including the Genesy 1500 and Genesy 3000). Before your first session, watch all of them — about 15 minutes total. Video 1 – Device parts Learn where the connectors are, which cable is for what (4 colored cables for general programs, 2 grey for microcurrent and iontophoresis), and how the display looks. Video 2 – Battery handling How to charge, when to replace, what the display indicates. Important: for safety reasons a treatment can only start from battery power — the device will not operate on mains while charging. Video 3 – Using the menu Step by step: how to navigate the Hungarian menu, choose a program for your complaint, set intensity and modify settings during treatment. Video 4 – Useful extra features Saving favorites, setting profiles, locking programs (e.g. if you lend the device to an elderly relative for a specific treatment), treating two patients at once (2+2 mode). Discuss with your physiotherapist or treating physician whether any of these are necessary for your situation. Frequently asked questions before purchase Is it safe with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator? Generally not. In case of a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator (ICD), nerve stimulator or hearing implant, electrotherapy is forbidden — only with cardiologist/arrhythmologist approval. Details in the electrical treatment and implants article. Can I use it at home without help? Yes, the Genesy 1500 is specifically optimized for home use — compact size, Hungarian menu, factory complaint-tailored programs. However, before the first treatment consult your treating physician or physiotherapist about which program they recommend for your specific complaint. For new, worsening or unknown complaints always seek medical consultation first. What is the difference between Genesy 1500 and Genesy 3000 for my situation? The two devices are very similar — same 4 channels, same main current types (TENS, EMS, microcurrent, IF, denervated, Kotz, iontophoresis), same Hungarian menu, same complaint-tailored program library. Differences: the Genesy 3000 also includes the Rheobase / Chronaxie diagnostic module (for precise denervated muscle parameter setting), 84 ActionNow programs, and a slightly expanded denervated program selection. The Genesy 1500 is more compact (404 g vs. 790 g), smaller and more affordable. For home use the Genesy 1500 is sufficient in most cases. For post-stroke denervated muscle rehab and professional clinic use consider the Genesy 3000. How long until I feel the effect? It depends on the method. TENS: immediate pain relief during the session. EMS (muscle strengthening): noticeable after 4–6 weeks of regular training. Microcurrent (wound healing, joint inflammation): changes typically after 2–4 weeks. IF / iontophoresis: 3–6 weeks. Chronic complaints require patience — it is not like a single painkiller tablet. If there is no change after 6–8 weeks, discuss further steps with your physician. Can I use it on two people or two painful areas at the same time? Yes — this is the 2+2 mode. The 4 channels split into two groups: channels 1–2 run one program, channels 3–4 run another. You can treat two family members or two pain sites in parallel (e.g. both knees, or your lower back and shoulder). Microcurrent and iontophoresis are exceptions — these programs do not run in 2+2 mode. How long after surgery should I wait to use it? There is no single answer — consult your treating physician. Special considerations apply near fresh sutures, screws and surgical materials. Many rehab programs can start within days after surgery if the surgeon permits. EMS programs for muscle strength recovery are typically recommended during the active rehabilitation phase (1–6 weeks post-op). Can it replace my physiotherapy? No. Electrotherapy is a complement, not an alternative. EMS builds muscle but coordination, range-of-motion improvements and relearning movement patterns are guided by a physiotherapist. The most effective package: physiotherapy + Genesy 1500 electrotherapy + prescribed medication (if any). Can I create my own program if my physiotherapist recommends a custom setting? Yes. With the Easy Program function you can save customized or newly created programs — 15 programs per user. You can also modify frequency, pulse duration or treatment time during a session (Run Time function). Useful for those whose physiotherapist prescribes individualized parameters.
