Types of treatment

The device is multifunctional, providing several types of electrical treatment methods. Each treatment mode applies to different problems.

TENS

TENS, or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, is primarily suitable for pain relief of musculoskeletal origin. It can also be used for menstrual pain and, to a lesser extent, cancer pain reduction.

EMS or NMES

Electrical muscle stimulation is denoted by EMS or NMES in medical practice. It is used for muscle-related problems. Primary applications include muscle stiffness, muscle atrophy, slowing muscle strength and mass loss, improving blood circulation, and reducing muscle pain. Preoperative muscle conditioning improves surgical outcomes, while post-operative rehabilitation is an essential complement.

FES

FES, or functional electrical stimulation, is often designated as an independent treatment mode. It is a type of muscle stimulation performed here to regain some lost function.

A few days after central paralysis (in fortunate cases), muscles partially regain movement ability but become clumsy and weak. Muscle stimulation for regaining strength and relearning movement is also functional stimulation.

MENS or MCR

Microcurrent is a very mild current (for example, TENS or muscle stimulation current is about a thousand times higher).

Microcurrent is used for pain relief (called MENS, microcurrent nerve stimulation) or healing (called MCR).

Microcurrent accelerates healing of inflammatory processes (including tendonitis, arthritis, arthrosis, etc.). It reduces edema and is useful for acute treatment of herniated discs, lumbago, sciatica, and other root symptoms. It speeds healing of injuries, wounds, muscle tears, etc.

Microcurrent stimulates collagen production, aiding wound and scar healing—useful also in beauty care for restoring skin elasticity and wrinkle treatment.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is a useful current type for treating joint inflammations and sports injuries. It allows delivering a (water-soluble, electrically charged) drug directly through the skin to the problematic body part, bypassing the digestive system. This avoids systemic drug distribution. For instance, oral drugs for an ankle injury reach all body parts, with minimal quantity arriving at the ankle, while ideally more should reach the ankle and less other areas. Iontophoresis assists in this.

Useful functions

Function	Details
	LAST 10 function: The device stores the last 10 executed programs. They can be quickly and easily selected and started from the list.
	AUTO STIM function Allows automatic execution of a program without intensity adjustment. Intensity is set based on the last execution of that program. AUTO STIM is only available for "Last 10" stored TENS and EMS programs.
	Run Time function Allows modification of main parameters during an ongoing program: treatment time, frequency, pulse duration. Pressing the Function button enables changes.
	Favorite programs Enables storing most-used programs in memory (up to 15 per user) for quick start.
	STIM LOCK function Allows locking programs saved in Treatments menu. Important when lending the device to patients who must only use "locked" therapist-approved programs (other programs disabled).
	Create your own program Allows creating and modifying up to 15 new programs, making the device highly flexible and customizable to individual needs.
	2+2 mode Allows running two different programs simultaneously (EMS or TENS). Thus, two patients or two muscle groups can be treated together. Channels 1-2 and 3-4 are programmable separately.
	Multiuser Enables personalized use by multiple users. To access Favorites and Last10, users must log into their profiles. Up to 10 users can have tailored treatment plans.

Contraindications of electrotherapy treatment

Electrotherapy treatments (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, ETS, CES, microcurrent, iontophoresis, denervated, selective current, Kotz, interferential, etc.) are safe and free of side effects.

There are only a few conditions that count as contraindications.

Current position forbids any electrotherapy treatment for patients with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Other conditions are not exclusion criteria; the advantages and disadvantages must be weighed by the treating physician.
