Improved microcirculation and nutrient delivery
Microcurrent stimulation mildly increases microcirculation and local temperature in the treated area. What does science say about microcurrent beauty treatments?
The evidence for G-Pulse and other microcurrent beauty treatments paints the following picture. In some areas there is clinical support, while in others data are only theoretical or based on animal models – I will present the current state honestly:
"Does it really improve skin elasticity and smooth-firm appearance?"
Partly. A 2024 clinical study (Choi et al., 36 subjects, 8 weeks) using a multi-energy home device (LED + low-intensity RF + microcurrent + ultrasound) measurably improved skin hydration, elasticity, roughness indices and periocular wrinkle volume. Histology confirmed an increase in type I collagen.5 Nuance: this was a combined device, so the standalone contribution of microcurrent cannot be separated. Evidence for combined multi-energy devices is stronger than for pure microcurrent alone.
"Are home handheld beauty devices effective?"
A 2024 systematic review (Bu et al.) summarized 18 clinical trials on home beauty devices (RF, microcurrent, LED). The review concluded these devices "to some extent improve signs of skin aging," but criticized small sample sizes, short follow-up, and lack of robust assessment frameworks.4 In other words: there may be effects, but modest, and the research methodology is still weak.
"Is it good for forehead tightening and eyebrow lifting?"
A 2016 double-blind, randomized clinical trial (Nobile et al., 50 subjects) using a home device combining radiofrequency and microcurrent pulses measured a 1.3 cm reduction in brow hairline compared to placebo.6 Nuance: this was an RF-dominant device supplemented with microcurrent – not a pure microcurrent protocol. The "lifting" effect here is mainly attributable to the RF component.
"Is microcurrent effective for cellulite and stretch marks?"
A large 2024 systematic review (Lim et al., 24 RCTs) analyzed permitted methods for cellulite treatment – the effective methods examined (shockwave therapy, radiofrequency, collagenase injections) do not include microcurrent.7 A PubMed search for "microcurrent + cellulite" returns no clinical trials. Similarly, there is no published clinical evidence for "microcurrent + stretch marks." Globus lists "cellulite" and "stretch marks" programs in the G-Pulse program list – these are factory program names, manufacturer application options that build on microcurrent's general circulation- and cell-level effects, but they do not guarantee certain results for these indications.

How to perform a G-Pulse treatment at home?
What you will need
- A Globus device that includes G-Pulse programs (see the device list below)
- The G-Trode treatment head – a special handheld electrode with two contact spheres. The Activa 700 includes it as standard; for other devices it must be purchased separately.
- The Contigel contact gel – provides electrical conductivity and prevents skin drying.
Treatment procedure
- Clean the skin area to be treated. If you want to combine cosmetics: apply the cream/serum first and let it absorb.
- Apply a pea-sized amount of Contigel to the treatment area.
- Select the appropriate G-Pulse program from the device menu.
- Place both spheres of the G-Trode treatment head on the skin – it is important that they remain in continuous contact simultaneously with the skin.
- Move the treatment head outward from the midline, making small circular motions.
- The device will indicate when the program has finished – then you can remove the treatment head.
- Clean the skin from residual gel and apply your usual moisturizing cream.
My advice on combining with cosmetics
A cosmetic does NOT replace the contact gel. Conductivity for the treatment is provided properly only by Contigel. If you want to use a cosmetic as a supplement, apply it first and let it absorb, then apply Contigel and start the treatment. When will you see results? – Realistic expectations
You must understand that it is not the electricity itself that changes your skin. Microcurrent is a "tool" that stimulates cells' collagen production and increases cellular energy turnover (ATP). A change in condition occurs when you consistently, daily stimulate and the effect accumulates.
Do not expect meaningful effects from a single treatment or even a week's series. Clinical trials of home microcurrent beauty treatments indicate that weeks to months are needed for noticeable results,4, 5 and the effect is modest (not dramatic). This is not an instant Botox-like wrinkle removal but a long-term, gradual "refreshing."
The G-Pulse effect occurs in two phases
- Cellular energy increase: microcurrent stimulates ATP production in treated cells, providing the energy required for metabolism and protein synthesis.1
- Stimulation of collagen production: with long-term stimulation fibroblast cells produce more collagen. Laboratory and animal-model studies support this;2, 3 however, the clinical result is time-consuming (weeks–months).

Safety profile of microcurrent beauty treatments
Short-term studies indicate microcurrent treatment is typically gentle – the most commonly observed side effects are transient skin redness and mild swelling after treatment.
