THE PURPOSE OF A WARM-UP
- to bring rested muscles into a "ready-to-act" state
- resting muscles, tendons, and ligaments are stiff
- resting muscle blood supply is moderate, with some capillaries and arterioles closed
Skipping or inadequately performing a warm-up greatly increases the risk of injury!
If you skip or inadequately perform a warm-up, the risk of injury increases significantly. This is especially true for activities requiring high intensity from the first moment.
Highly typical is a strain, sprain, or tear during the first sprint or jump!
This is typically an injury to an un-warmed-up muscle, tendon, or ligament!
You can lose weeks or months of your training due to the injury!
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF A QUALITY WARM-UP!
