Details

The Power Q-1000 Plus is an easy-to-use compression therapy unit. It is also referred to as pressure therapy unit or wave massage device. All three names refer to the same device, with no differences.

The Power Q-1000 Plus is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating principle

The device operates on the principle of a pneumatic compressor, essentially an "air pump".

The device connects to cuffs made up of several airchambers. The machine inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymphatic vessels, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

Therapeutic areas

The device offers a wide range of applications in treating health problems as well as in sports and wellness.

Its primary use is for mild to moderate lymphoedema. Due to its simple operation, even elderly persons or those unfamiliar with technical devices can use it.

The device is effective in treating arm swelling after breast removal surgery.

It is suitable for alleviating symptoms caused by varicose veins.

Pregnant women particularly benefit as it can safely reduce leg swelling caused by pregnancy-related varicose veins.

It plays an important role in post-thrombosis rehabilitation, though treatment should start only at least 3 months after the acute phase.

Preventive and regenerative effects

The Power Q-1000 Plus is not only suitable for treating existing problems but also excellent for preventive purposes.

In cases of limb paralysis or reduced mobility, regular use can significantly reduce the risk of thrombosis.

The device effectively supports blood circulation and helps prevent circulatory disorders.

Aesthetic and sports applications

The device is also excellent for aesthetic purposes, especially reducing the symptoms of cellulite.

Athletes benefit as it significantly speeds up post-exercise recovery by aiding faster removal of metabolites and muscle restoration, thus shortening recovery time.

Technical data

  • Adjustable cuff pressure: from 20 to 300 mmHg
  • Adjustable treatment time: between 0 and 30 minutes

Recommendation

The Power Q-1000 Plus is a reliable compression therapy unit offering a wide range of applications for health problems as well as wellness and sports regeneration.

Proper use and adherence to safety guidelines allow effective treatment of many circulatory problems and swelling.

Thanks to different sizes and types of cuffs, almost every body part can be targeted, providing a truly personalized solution for various health and aesthetic issues.

Cuff selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the treatment area.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for their respective body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected and used simultaneously, if health permits.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating arm edema after breast surgery. Leg cuffs come in knee-length or thigh-length (M-L-XL sizes). They can be extended with zipper inserts if needed. Waist cuffs come as belts or pants for treating upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Treatment of upper limbs

Lymphoedema on the arm is usually unilateral – one arm cuff is generally sufficient. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at wrist, forearm, and under the upper arm near the armpit. Choose M or L size.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italicized values = length in cm; red line and bold values = circumference in cm.

Treatment of lower limbs

First measure ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-length and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available, extendable with zippers if needed.

Half-length leg cuff

Knee-length, particularly suitable for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment only starts 3–4 months post-thrombosis). Suitable only for edema up to foot or ankle; longer edema needs long cuff.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphoedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic states, and muscle regeneration. Usable individually or in pairs and extendable.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

H=half-length; M–L–XL=thigh length; green line and italicized values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Treatment of torso, buttocks, and abdomen

Pants and belt cuffs are available for upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These cuffs are necessary if lymphoedema extends up to the thigh. They're also suitable for cosmetic treatments such as cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Fully surrounds thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Offers a wide range of sizes with triple zipper (small-medium-max). Built-in airhose; no need to purchase additional airhose.

Belt cuff

Belt shape with Velcro fastening. Less effective than pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=pant; M–L=belt cuff; green line and italicized values=length in cm; red line and bold values=circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is advisable. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy or untreated hypertension.

Overview of 4 airchamber cuffs

Application

Before starting treatment, set the appropriate pressure and duration. The pressure is adjustable between 20 and 300 mmHg, though most treatments require only 40-60 mmHg. Duration is adjustable between 0 and 30 minutes; for initial treatments start with 20 minutes.

The airchambers inflate in sequence - legs: ankle-calf-knee-thigh; arms: hand-forearm-elbow-upper arm - to optimize circulation improvement.

Observe and adjust pressure as needed, but do not exceed 60 mmHg.

Safety instructions and contraindications

Carefully observe safety instructions. Do not use in acute deep vein thrombosis; external pressure may dislodge clots and cause pulmonary embolism. Avoid use during skin infections such as erysipelas, as massage could spread infection.

In heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy or post-infarction condition, never exceed 40-60 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time. Cancer patients must consult an oncologist prior to treatment; avoid direct treatment on active tumors.

Treatment frequency and duration

Frequency and duration should be individually determined. Generally, shorter, more frequent sessions (20-30 minutes) are better than infrequent, longer treatments. Total daily treatment time should not exceed 120 minutes on the same area.

Expected effects

Patience is key - lymphoedema cannot be eliminated in a single session. Noticeable improvement generally occurs after 5-10 consecutive treatments. With regular use, blood and lymph circulation improve, and swelling, tension and pain decrease.

Pressure setting guidelines

Follow the instructions of your doctor or therapist.

General guidelines:

  • Low pressure (40-50 mmHg) is sufficient to improve circulation; high pressure can be harmful.

  • Begin initial treatments at 40-50 mmHg for 20 minutes.

  • Monitor and increase pressure if needed, but do not exceed 60 mmHg.

  • Prefer multiple 20-30 minute sessions rather than one long session, max 120 minutes daily.

  • Be patient - evaluate changes after 3-4 sessions; avoid changing settings at every session.

Diagnosis Pressure (mmHg) Time (minutes) Cuff
Arm lymphoedema 40-60 20-30 Arm
Leg lymphoedema 40-60 20-40 Leg, waist, pant
Lipedema (fat edema) 50-90 30-40 Leg, pant
Venous insufficiency 40-50 30 Leg, mid-length calf
Heaviness 40-50 30 Leg, mid-length calf
Venous ulcer 40-50 40-60 Calf, mid-calf
Post-thrombosis condition 50-60 50-60 Leg, mid-length calf
Post-exercise recovery 80-100 20-30 Leg, pant, arm

Risks of incorrect treatment

For lymphatic and venous circulation support, use 40-60 mmHg. Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries and tissue hardening. Aggressive treatment may worsen conditions - avoid high pressure!

In heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy or post-infarction condition, never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff to avoid overloading the circulatory system. Do not treat active tumors directly but treatment away from tumors is allowed, e.g. legs for thyroid cancer patients.
