Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also called a pressure therapy unit or wave massage unit. These three names refer to the same device, with no difference.
It is primarily designed for home use but can also be used by therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating Principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, an "air pump."

Cuffs consisting of multiple airchambers are connected to the device. The machine inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels inside, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical action reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device features multiple modes, enabling customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment times according to individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effectively used for various conditions, including:

  • Lymphedema (lymphatic edema): A disease of the lymphatic system causing fluid accumulation and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, relieving leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Swelling after breast removal surgery due to lymphatic disruption. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Assists in managing swelling and improves joint mobility for sufferers.
  • Post-surgical hematomas: Helps reduce postoperative blood collections by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in at-risk patients.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff Selection

The device offers various cuff types and sizes, sold separately. Choose the cuff that targets your problem area. Arm, leg, and trunk cuffs are specially designed for effective treatment. Up to three 4-chamber cuffs can be used at once. The arm cuff is ideal for post-mastectomy lymphedema. Leg cuffs come in below-knee and thigh-length variants in multiple sizes, with extension zippers available. Trunk cuffs are offered as pants or belt, suitable for the abdomen and hip area.

Upper Limb Treatment

Arm lymphedema is usually unilateral; one arm cuff may suffice. Athletes may use two arm cuffs for simultaneous treatment. The arm cuff features a Velcro strap for secure under-arm placement.

Arm Cuff

Before purchase, measure your wrist, forearm, and upper arm circumference below the armpit. Sizes M and L are available.

Lower Limb Treatment

Measure ankle, calf, knee, and thigh base circumferences before selecting. There are two leg cuffs: below-knee and thigh-length. The thigh cuff comes in M-L-XL; extensions can enlarge standard sizes.

Below-Knee Leg Cuff

Designed for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment 3–4 months after thrombosis. Use for edema up to the ankle; for higher swelling, use the thigh cuff.

Thigh-Length Leg Cuff

Ideal for leg lymphedema, varicose veins, post-thrombosis, and sports recovery. Available individually or in pairs; extension zippers enlarge standard sizes. If edema reaches the thigh, trunk treatment with a belt cuff is also required.

Trunk-Hip-Abdomen Treatment

For upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen treatment, choose pants or belt cuff. Use when lymphedema extends to the thigh; also for cosmetic treatments like cellulite and post-cavitation fat removal. The pants cuff provides full circumferential treatment with adjustable zippers. The belt cuff wraps like a mini-skirt; inner thigh and lower buttocks are not treated. A separate air hose is required. Measure below the navel and hips before selecting size.

Cuff Combinations

Multiple cuffs may be combined but should not be used in cases of heart failure, post-infarction, cardiomyopathy, or uncontrolled hypertension.

Trunk and Leg Cuffs

Used in lymph and fat edema (lymphedema and lipedema) and cosmetic treatments (cellulite, cavitation). Less effective than the next combination.

Pants and Leg Cuffs

Optimal for cosmetic treatments and thigh-hip lymphedema and lipedema.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium allows all settings recommended for home maintenance of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombosis. It features six programs (A1, A2, B, C, D, E). For lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombosis, use A1, C, and E. A1 is the gentlest, C is the strongest, E is intermediate. Start with A1 and move to stronger programs only if needed. These programs also aid muscle recovery and post-stroke therapy. A1, C, and E inflate chambers from bottom to top; A2 is reverse (top-to-bottom) and should not be used for lymphedema or varicose veins—it’s for certain peripheral artery disease stages and postoperative microcirculation improvement. Inflated chambers press tissues to expel edema. The menu is user-friendly; settings can be saved for quick startup. Individual chamber pressure adjustment ensures the most effective leg lymphedema treatment. Treatment time is adjustable from 5 to 99 minutes; the device stops when time elapses.

Treatment Guidelines

Follow your physician’s or therapist’s instructions. General guidelines: lymphatic massage improves blood and lymph circulation; excessive pressure is not beneficial. Start with the A1 program. Set chamber pressure highest in the lowest chamber, decreasing upward (e.g., 60-50-50-40 mmHg) for optimal leg lymphedema treatment. A pressure-hold time of 13–15 seconds ensures one inflation cycle per minute; longer hold times are more effective. Begin with 20 minutes per session, observe effects, and if needed extend to 30 minutes. Multiple 30-minute sessions are preferable to one long session; total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes. Be patient—changes take 3–4 sessions to become measurable.

Risks of Improper Use

Use 30–60 mmHg for lymphatic and venous flow improvement as recommended by international studies. Higher pressure can cause micro-injuries and tissue hardening. Avoid high pressure and rapid treatments. In heart failure, post-infarction, or cardiomyopathy, never exceed 40–50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time. Direct treatment over tumors is contraindicated, though legs can be treated in cases of thyroid tumors.

Expected Results

  • Reduced swelling: Decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Eases discomfort from swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion.
  • Complication prevention: Reduces risk of venous ulcers and DVT.

Treatment Frequency

Session length and frequency depend on condition and individual factors. Typically, one session lasts 20–60 minutes and may be repeated daily. Regular use over weeks yields the best results. Consult a lymphedema therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications & Precautions

Machine-assisted lymphatic massage may be contraindicated or require caution in certain cases.

Do not use in severe peripheral arterial disease, severe heart failure, or active DVT. Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas) are also contraindications.

Use with caution after extensive pelvic or abdominal lymph node removal and for tumor-related leg swelling only under oncologist guidance. In heart conditions, use low pressure (≤40–50 mmHg) and one cuff at a time for longer but gentler sessions to avoid cardiovascular overload.
