Treatment Types

This device is multifunctional, offering several types of electrical treatments. Each treatment type can be used to address different problems.

TENS

TENS, that is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, is mainly suitable for relieving musculoskeletal-related pain. It is also used for menstrual pain and to a lesser extent for cancer-related pain relief.

EMS or NMES

Electrical muscle stimulation is abbreviated in medical practice as EMS or NMES. It is used to treat muscle-related problems. Major applications include reducing muscle stiffness, muscle atrophy, decreasing muscle strength and mass, improving blood circulation, and decreasing muscle pain. When used before musculoskeletal surgeries for preparation, it improves surgical outcomes. After surgery, it is an essential part of rehabilitation.

FES

FES, or Functional Electrical Stimulation, is often designated as a standalone treatment method. Actually, it is also muscle stimulation aimed at recovering some lost function.

After central paralysis, muscles may partially regain movement after a few days (in fortunate cases), but become clumsy and weak. Muscle stimulation involved in regaining strength and relearning movement is also functional stimulation.

MENS or MCR

Microcurrent is an extremely mild current (for example, TENS or muscle stimulation currents are about a thousand times stronger).

Microcurrent can be used for pain relief (called MENS, microcurrent nerve stimulation) or healing (called MCR).

Microcurrent accelerates the healing of inflammatory processes (including tendon inflammation, arthritis, osteoarthritis, etc.). It reduces edema, making it useful in acute treatment of herniated discs, lumbago, sciatica, and other nerve root symptoms. It speeds the healing of injuries, wounds, muscle tears, etc.

Microcurrent stimulates collagen production, aiding wound and scar healing—useful in cosmetic care for restoring skin elasticity and wrinkle treatment.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is a useful current type for treating joint inflammations and sports injuries. It allows delivering a (water-soluble, electrically charged) drug through the skin directly to the affected area, avoiding the digestive system. This is its advantage. For example, with an ankle injury, oral drugs reach all parts of the body, with only a minimal amount reaching the ankle. Ideally, more should reach the ankle and less the rest of the body. Iontophoresis helps achieve this.

Denervated (denervated stimulation)

Used for treating muscles affected by peripheral paralysis (denervated, i.e., having lost their motor nerve). Triangle, trapezoid, and rectangular waveforms are selectable. The waveform should be chosen according to the degree of nerve damage: severe damage - triangle, moderate - trapezoid, mild - rectangle.

A muscle that lost its motor nerve cannot be stimulated via the nerve. Denervated impulses directly activate muscle fibers, so denervated stimulation impulses are significantly longer than EMS impulses used for intact muscles. While EMS impulses last microseconds, denervated impulses last milliseconds.

Useful Functions

Function	Details
	LAST 10 function: The device stores the last 10 executed programs. They can be quickly and easily selected and started from the list.
	AUTO STIM function Allows automatic execution of a program without intensity adjustment. The intensity value is set based on the last execution of that program. AUTO STIM function is only for TENS and EMS programs saved in the 'Last 10' memory.
	Run Time function After starting a program, main parameters such as treatment time, frequency, and pulse duration can be modified. The function button opens this option.
	Favorite programs Allows saving the most used programs into memory (max 15 per user) and quick start from there.
	STIM LOCK function Allows locking of programs saved in the Treatments menu. Important when lending the device to patients who need to use a "locked" program set by the therapist (while other programs are disabled).
	Create custom programs Allows creating and modifying up to 15 new programs, making the device highly flexible and customizable for individual needs.
	2+2 mode Allows simultaneously running two different programs (EMS or TENS). Thus, two patients or two muscle groups can be treated simultaneously. Channels 1-2 and 3-4 can be programmed separately.
	Multiuser Enables personalized use of the device by multiple users. To access Favorites and Last10 functions, the user must log into their profile. Treatment plans can be created for up to 10 people.

Contraindications for electrotherapy treatment

Electrotherapy treatments (TENS, EMS, MENS, FES, ETS, CES, microcurrent, iontophoresis, denervated, denervated stimulation, Kotz, interferential, etc.) are safe and free of side effects.

Only very few conditions are listed among the contraindications.

Current position prohibits any electrotherapy treatment for patients with pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Other conditions are not exclusion criteria; benefits and risks should be weighed by the treating physician.
