Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pressure therapy unit or wave massage unit. These three names refer to the same device with no difference.
The device is mainly designed for home use but can also be used by therapists and small clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, an "air pump".

Cuffs composed of multiple airchambers are connected to the device. The machine inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels, directing excess fluid towards the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (interstitial fluid), stimulates circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device offers various modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can be treated?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effective for treating various conditions, including:

  • Lymphedema (lymphoedema): A lymphatic system disorder causing fluid accumulation in tissues and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose vein disease: Improves venous return, easing leg heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Common after breast removal surgery due to lymphatic obstruction. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Aids in reducing swelling and improving joint mobility for sufferers.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce postoperative bruising by enhancing circulation and promoting resorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically in patients at risk to prevent clot formation.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for specific body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected and used simultaneously if health permits.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating post-mastectomy arm edema. Leg cuffs are available in lengths up to the knee or thigh. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant form to treat the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Upper limb treatment

Lymphedema on the arm is usually unilateral – one arm cuff is generally sufficient. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro secures the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and the upper arm under the underarm. Choose M or L size.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic values = length in cm; red line and bold values = circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

First measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-high and thigh-high cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. They can be extended with zip extensions if needed!

Half-length leg cuff

Knee-length, especially suitable for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment only begins 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable only for edema up to foot or ankle; longer edema requires long cuff.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs and is extendable.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium leg cuff

Trunk, buttock and abdomen treatment

Pant and waist cuffs are available for the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These cuffs are necessary if lymphedema extends to the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic treatments like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Fully encloses the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. A triple-row zipper provides a wide size range (small–medium–maximum). Built-in airhose; no further purchase needed.

Waist cuff

Belt-shaped with velcro fastening. Less effective than the pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuff PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=pant cuff; M–L=waist cuff; green line and italic values= length in cm; red line and bold values= circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes simultaneous use of multiple cuffs is recommended. Contraindicated in heart failure, heart attack, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium offers all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Use programs A1, C, and E for lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic condition treatment.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E the medium intensity. Start with A1 and change only if results are insufficient.

Programs A1, C, and E can also improve muscle regeneration in athletes and stroke patients.

The A1-C-E programs work bottom-up: the lowest chamber inflates first, followed by the next.

Program A2 is the reverse (top-down) and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose veins. Recommended for microcirculation improvement in certain peripheral arterial disease stages and postoperative conditions.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses the underlying tissues, "squeezing" out the edema (lymph vessels).

The menu system is easy to operate. Settings can be saved, so next time only the «start» button needs to be pressed.

It is especially important that the chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time can be set between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops when time expires.

Treatment guidelines

Follow your doctor or therapist's instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Start initial treatments with program A1.

Set pressure so the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this yields the best results in lower leg lymphedema.

Maintain each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing a full cycle per minute. Longer hold time ensures more effective lymphedema treatment.

Start with a 20-minute session.

Monitor treatment effects and increase to 30 minutes if needed. More frequent 30-minute sessions are better than infrequent long sessions. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after each session.

Risks of incorrect use

For lymphatic and venous circulation, 30-60 mmHg pressure is sufficient. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening condition. Avoid aggressive high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack require caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to prevent heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spread. However, leg treatment is safe in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively decreases limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Complication prevention: Reduces risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended usage duration

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments usually last 20-60 minutes and may be repeated daily if needed. For optimal results, use regularly over several weeks. Consult a lymphatic therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Mechanical compression therapy is unsuitable or requires caution and lower pressure in certain cases.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure can be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts may be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage may spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Post-lymph node removal edema (e.g., after Wertheim procedure) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist guidance.
  • Heart diseases and hypertension require extra caution: use only one cuff at lower pressure (40-50 mmHg) and prefer longer sessions over increasing pressure.
