Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pressure therapy device or wave massage device. These three names refer to the same device, with no difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but is also suitable for therapists and smaller clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device that complies with strict European quality and safety standards.

Operating principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, essentially an "air pump".

The device connects to cuffs consisting of multiple airchambers. The machine inflates and deflates them sequentially. This creates a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles, veins, and lymph vessels, directing excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device has multiple modes allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations according to individual needs.

What conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effectively used to treat various conditions and diseases, including:

  • Lymphedema: A lymphatic system disorder causing swelling due to fluid accumulation in tissues. The device helps reduce this swelling by stimulating lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, relieving heaviness, pain, and swelling in legs caused by venous disorders.
  • Post-mastectomy arm swelling: Common arm swelling after breast removal surgery due to impaired lymph flow. The device helps reduce postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: May assist in managing swelling and improving joint mobility in affected individuals.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce post-surgical hematomas by improving circulation and promoting absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent blood clots in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports recovery: Ideal for enhancing muscle recovery effectiveness.

Cuff selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose a cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for specific body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and used simultaneously if health permits.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating post-mastectomy arm edema. Leg cuffs come in lengths up to the knee or thigh. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant styles to treat upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Treatment of upper limbs

Lymphedema in the arm usually affects one side — one arm cuff is usually sufficient. Athletes might use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm area.

Arm cuff

Before purchase, measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and upper arm under the underarm. Choose M or L size.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italicized value = length in cm; red line and bold value = circumference in cm.

Treatment of lower limbs

First, measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee-length and thigh-length cuffs (M–L–XL) are available. Can be extended with zipper extensions if needed.

Knee-length leg cuff

Knee-length, specifically for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment can start only 3-4 months after thrombosis). Applicable only for edema up to the foot or ankle; longer edema requires a long cuff.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose complaints, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs, extendable.

Treatment of waist, hips, and abdomen

For upper thigh, hips, buttocks, and abdomen, pant and belt cuffs are available. These cuffs are needed if lymphedema reaches the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic applications like cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Completely surrounds the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Provides a wide size range (small–medium–maximum) with a three-row zipper. Built-in airhose; no extra airhose purchase needed.

Belt cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro fastener. Less effective than pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphoedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuffs PQ-1000 Plus Premium

P=Pant; M–L=Belt cuff; green line and italicized value = length in cm; red line and bold value = circumference in cm.

Cuff combinations

Sometimes it is practical to use multiple cuffs simultaneously. Contraindicated in heart failure, infarction, cardiomyopathy, or uncontrolled hypertension.

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Programs A1, C, and E are used for lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E the intermediate. Start with A1 and change only if results are insufficient.

Programs A1, C, and E can also improve muscle recovery in athletes and stroke patients.

The A1-C-E programs work from bottom to top: the lower chamber inflates first, then the next.

The A2 program is reverse (top to bottom), and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose veins. Recommended in certain peripheral arterial disease stages and postoperative states to improve microcirculation.

Inflated chamber pressure compresses tissues underneath, "squeezing out" edema (lymph vessels).

The menu system is easy to use. Settings can be saved so next time only the "start" button needs pressing.

It is particularly important that chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time can be set between 5 and 99 minutes. The device switches off once the time elapses.

Treatment guidelines

Follow your doctor's or therapist's instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not advisable.

Start initial treatments with program A1.

Adjust pressures so that the lowest chamber has the highest pressure, decreasing upwards (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show these achieve the best results for leg lymphedema.

Each pressure level should last 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer holding times ensure more effective lymphedema treatment.

Start with 20-minute sessions.

Monitor treatment effects and increase to 30 minutes if needed. Better to have several 30-minute sessions than rare longer ones. Total daily treatment should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be evaluated after 3-4 sessions; avoid changing settings after each treatment.

Risks of improper use

A pressure of 30-60 mmHg is sufficient for lymph and venous circulation. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries, potentially hardening edematous tissues and worsening the condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Patients with heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack require special caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to prevent heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue as it may promote spreading. However, in thyroid cancer cases, leg treatment is safe.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively reduces limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Eases discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Prevention of complications: Lowers risk of venous ulcers and thrombosis tendency.

Recommended duration of use

Frequency and duration depend on the condition and individual factors. Treatments typically last 20-60 minutes and can be repeated daily if needed. For optimal results, use regularly over several weeks. Consult a lymph therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Compression therapy with the device is unsuitable in certain cases or requires caution and lower pressure in others.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure may be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression can dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage may spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Edema after lymph node removal (e.g., post-Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist supervision.
  • Heart diseases and hypertension require caution: use only one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and extend sessions rather than increase pressure.
