Details

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a high-performance compression therapy unit. It is also known as a pressure therapy or wave massage device. These three terms refer to the same device without difference.
The device is primarily designed for home use but can also be applied by therapists or smaller clinics.

The Power Q-1000 Premium is a medical device compliant with strict European quality and safety standards.

Working principle

The device operates based on a pneumatic compressor, a "air pump".

Cuffs connected to the device consist of multiple airchambers. The unit inflates and deflates these sequentially, creating a wave-like massaging effect.

It compresses muscles along with the veins and lymphatic vessels inside them, directing excess fluid toward the heart.

This mechanical effect reduces edema (fluid between tissues), stimulates blood circulation, and refreshes muscles.

The device features multiple modes, allowing customization of pressure levels, inflation patterns, and treatment durations to individual needs.

Which conditions and diseases can it treat?

The Power Q-1000 Premium is effective in treating various conditions and diseases, including:

  • Lymphedema: A disorder of the lymphatic system causing fluid accumulation in tissues and swelling. The device helps reduce swelling by promoting lymph flow.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins: Improves venous return, alleviating heaviness, pain, and swelling associated with venous disorders.
  • Arm swelling after mastectomy: Post-breast surgery arm swelling due to disrupted lymph flow. The Power Q-1000 Premium helps reduce this postoperative edema.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Assists in managing swelling and improving joint mobility in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
  • Postoperative hematomas: Helps reduce postoperative hematomas by improving circulation and absorption.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention: Used prophylactically to prevent clots in patients at risk of DVT.
  • Sports recovery: Excellent for enhancing muscle regeneration.

Cuff selection

Accessories can be purchased separately for the device. Various types and sizes of cuffs are available. Choose the cuff suitable for the body part to be treated.

Arm, leg, and waist cuffs are designed for the respective body parts. Up to three cuffs can be connected to the device and, if health permits, used simultaneously.

The arm cuff is especially suitable for treating post-breast surgery arm edema. Leg cuffs are available in lengths reaching the knee or thigh. Waist cuffs come in belt or pant form for treating the upper thigh, hip, and lower abdomen.

Treatment of upper limbs

Lymphedema of the arm is usually unilateral – one arm cuff suffices. Athletes may use two arm cuffs to treat both arms simultaneously. Velcro fasteners secure the cuff under the underarm.

Arm cuff

Measure your arm at the wrist, forearm, and upper arm below the armpit before purchasing. Choose size M or L.

PQ-1000 Plus Premium arm cuffs

M–L arm cuff: green line and italic font indicates length in cm; red line and bold font indicates circumference in cm.

Lower limb treatment

First measure the ankle, calf, knee, and thigh. Knee and thigh-length cuffs (M-L-XL) are available. Zip extensions can be added if necessary!

Half-length leg cuff

Knee-length, specifically applicable for post-thrombotic syndrome treatment (treatment can only start 3–4 months after thrombosis). Suitable only for edema up to foot or ankle; longer edema requires long cuff.

Thigh-length leg cuff

Ideal for lymphedema, lipedema, varicose symptoms, post-thrombotic conditions, and muscle regeneration. Can be used individually or in pairs and extended.

Trunk, buttocks, and abdomen treatment

Pant and waist cuffs are available for the upper thigh, hip, buttocks, and abdomen. These cuffs are necessary when lymphedema reaches the thigh. Also suitable for cosmetic treatments such as cellulite and cavitation.

Pant cuff

Fully encloses the thigh, buttocks, and lower abdomen. Offers a wide size range (small–medium–maximum) with a three-row zipper. Built-in airhose; no additional airhose purchase needed.

Waist cuff

Belt-shaped with Velcro attachment. Less effective than pant cuff but cheaper. Suitable for lymphedema and aesthetic treatments (cellulite).

Waist cuff PQ-1000 Plus Premium

Cuff combinations

Sometimes using multiple cuffs simultaneously is advisable. Contraindicated in heart failure, myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, or untreated hypertension.

Overview of 4-chamber cuffs

Application

The Power Q-1000 Premium provides all medically recommended settings for home maintenance treatment of lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

The device has 6 programs (A1-A2-B-C-C-D-E).

Programs

Use programs A1, C, and E for lymphedema, varicose veins, and post-thrombotic conditions.

A1 is the mildest, C the strongest, and E is intermediate. Start with A1 and switch only if results are insufficient.

A1, C, and E programs can also improve muscle regeneration in athletes and stroke patients.

The A1-C-E programs inflate from bottom to top: first the lowest chamber inflates, then the next.

The A2 program is inverse (top-down) and should never be used for lymphedema or varicose veins. Recommended for improving microcirculation in certain stages of peripheral arterial diseases and postoperative conditions.

The inflated chamber pressure compresses underlying tissues, "squeezing out" edema (lymphatic vessels).

The menu system is easy to use. Settings can be saved so that only the "start" button needs pressing next time.

It's especially important that chamber pressure is individually adjustable for optimal leg lymphedema treatment.

Treatment time can be set between 5 and 99 minutes. The device stops automatically when time elapses.

Treatment guidelines

Follow your doctor’s or therapist’s instructions.

General guidelines:

The goal is to improve blood and lymph circulation without excessive pressure; high pressure is not recommended.

Begin initial treatments with program A1.

Adjust pressure to have the highest pressure in the lowest chamber, decreasing upwards gradually (e.g., 60-50-50-50-40 mmHg). Studies show this achieves the best results for leg lymphedema.

Maintain each pressure for 13-15 seconds, allowing one full cycle per minute. Longer holding times provide more effective lymphedema treatment.

Start with a 20-minute treatment.

Monitor treatment effects and increase to 30 minutes if needed. Multiple 30-minute sessions are better than fewer longer ones. Total daily treatment time should not exceed 120 minutes.

Be patient. Effects should be assessed after 3-4 treatments; avoid changing settings after each session.

Risks of incorrect use

For lymphatic and venous circulation, 30-60 mmHg pressure is sufficient. International studies recommend this range.

Higher pressure may cause micro-injuries, potentially harden edematous tissues, and worsen the condition. Avoid aggressive, high-pressure treatments.

Heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or post-heart attack patients require caution: never exceed 40-50 mmHg and use only one cuff at a time to avoid heart overload.

Avoid direct treatment of tumor tissue, as it may facilitate spread. However, it is safe to treat legs in thyroid cancer cases.

Expected results

  • Reduced swelling: Effectively reduces limb edema.
  • Pain relief: Relieves discomfort caused by swelling and venous insufficiency.
  • Improved mobility: Increases joint range of motion by reducing swelling and stiffness.
  • Complication prevention: Lowers risk of venous ulcers and thrombophilia.

Recommended duration of use

Frequency and duration depend on condition and individual factors. Treatments typically last 20-60 minutes, may be repeated daily if needed. Use regularly over several weeks for optimal results. Consult a lymphatic therapist for a personalized plan.

Contraindications and precautions

Mechanical compression therapy is not suitable in certain cases and requires caution and lower pressure in others.

Contraindications:

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD): High pressure can be harmful.
  • Severe heart failure: Fluid shifts can be dangerous; treatments must be limited and cautious.
  • Active DVT: Compression may dislodge clots; absolutely contraindicated.
  • Acute skin infections (e.g., erysipelas): Massage can spread pathogens and worsen inflammation.

Use with caution:

  • Edema after lymph node removal (e.g., Wertheim surgery) requires specialist supervision.
  • Abdominal swelling related to tumors only under oncologist supervision.
  • Heart diseases and high blood pressure despite treatment require caution: use only one cuff at low pressure (40-50 mmHg) and extend sessions rather than increasing pressure.
