The AMI LIFE is a non-invasive neuromuscular electrostimulation system (NMES). It has been developed taking into account the guidelines of the main scientific evidence currently available in the scientific literature.

The system includes 3 stimulation programs for the treatment of motor, sensorimotor and sensory swallowing dysfunction, as well as a facial habilitation program.

INDICATIONS:

It is indicated for treatments of the neck and anterior face. It can be used for the prevention of swallowing atrophy and rehabilitation of the muscles involved in swallowing, in the treatment of dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing) of any aetiology, except for mechanical causes which may require surgery (for example, obstructive (obstructing) tumours).

Some causes of dysphagia for which it may be used include: neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, respiratory diseases with swallowing complications, iatrogenic disorders, radiation fibrosis/stenosis, stroke, intubation or anoxia related to birth, head or neck trauma.

The intended use of the device is to re-educate (re-train) the muscles involved in swallowing using two-phase, symmetric and square wave electrostimulation applied by surface electrodes.

The device should only be used by authorised medical or health personnel (physiotherapists, speech therapists). Home use should be under the instruction and guidance of a doctor.
