Pulse oximetry is recommended for people
- with respiratory problems (COPD, chronic obstructive bronchitis, asthma, allergies, lung tumours)
- with heart problems (heart failure, cardiomyopathy, absolute arrhythmia, arrhythmia in seizures).
In these conditions, the device can provide useful information
- the maximum value of oxygen saturation (saturation) is 100%
- between 90% and 95% and
- 88% or lower should be monitored and medical advice sought immediately
