Premature ejaculation
In premature ejaculation (ejaculatio praecox), the man reaches orgasm and ejaculates earlier than desired during the sexual act.
This time period can vary, but usually the men concerned reach ejaculation in less than a minute from the start of intercourse.
The problem is that after ejaculation, the man's erection can quickly disappear, so the duration of the act is too short and does not give pleasure to the partner.
Is premature ejaculation a disease?
Premature ejaculation is not considered a disease, but rather a sexual dysfunction. Although it is not life-threatening, it can cause significant psychological and emotional distress for both men and their partners.
Why is it embarrassing?
- Psychological effects:Reduced self-esteem and confidence, anxiety, frustration and depression.
- Relationship problems: Lack of sexual satisfaction with a partner, which can lead to conflict and emotional distance.
- Sexual dissatisfaction: Both the man's and the partner's sexual experience may be impaired, leading to long-term sexual disinterest.
Treating premature ejaculation
There are several methods and techniques for treating premature ejaculation:
- Helpi Ring: a completely risk-free and effective method, a rubber ring placed at the base of the penis prevents visible ejaculation and maintains erection even after a man has had an orgasm
- Psychological Therapy: Involvement of a psychologist or sex therapist who can help address emotional and psychological factors.
- Behavioural therapy: Special techniques such as the "squeeze technique" or the "start-stop" method to help the man learn to delay premature ejaculation.
- Pharmaceutical treatment: Medicines such as local anaesthetics (creams, sprays), antidepressants or other oral medications that can help delay ejaculation. These are expensive and may have side effects.
- Habitual changes: Stress management, regular exercise, a healthy diet and adequate sleep can all help improve sexual health.
- Communication: Open and honest communication with a partner about the problem can reduce relationship stress and improve joint problem-solving.
Treatment of premature ejaculation requires a personalised approach and it is important that people seek professional help if the problem is persistent and negatively affects their quality of life.
