Muscle strength recovery
During forced rest due to illness, muscle mass and strength are rapidly reduced. Even 2-3 weeks of inactivity causes a significant reduction. Muscle stimulation is preventable!
Read more...Due to "temporary" inactivity (for example, lack of movement due to illness or surgery), "unused" muscle loses mass and strength very quickly. It can be felt after as little as 10-15 days of "downtime", but once the forced rest reaches a duration of a few weeks, muscle performance is severely impaired.
This is a major problem in rehabilitation, as regaining previous strength and mobility can only be achieved through painstaking treatment over several months.
If you neglect muscle recovery, you start a chain of problems. Read Dr Zsolt Zátrok's article on the effects of physical inactivity
Muscle Strength Recovery with Muscle Stimulation
Start sooner
You can start muscle stimulation treatments to maintain muscle strength while you are still sick, even while you are lying in bed (and usually 1-2 days after surgery). For example, you can start strengthening your leg muscles and arms after a heart rhythm problem or pneumonia or abdominal surgery. Without it, you will find it difficult to move after 2-3 weeks, which is very important.
Tendon Recovery Stimulation
You can often start muscle stimulation strengthening before you start physiotherapy. For example, if you have knee ligament surgery, you should not move or load the knee joint for days. In the meantime, the thigh and leg muscles are rapidly recovering.
You can, however, use muscle stimulation at this stage. The treatment does not cause any displacement of the joint and therefore does not put any strain on it.
The physiological effect of stimulation is the same as exercise - it prevents muscle atrophy.
After the wound healing and resting period, start traditional physiotherapy! However, at this point you are not "restoring" a muscle that has been broken down, but you can start again with muscle mass retained."
You can significantly shorten the recovery and rehabilitation time by starting muscle stimulation in time.
In this product group we have collected devices and equipment that can be used for muscle recovery.
